My TB01 Shelf Queen

Recommended Posts

Just a few pictures of my shelf queen. I added the rear alloy uprights and carbon frame. But the rest of the car came to me as a gift from a fellow Tamiya Club member with all the other Hopup already fitted. I need to find the alloy front arms and add alloy servo mounts.

Hop ups include.

TG10 alloy rear arms

TG10 alloy rear uprights

TG10 alloy front hub carriers

GPM alloy front hubs

TB01 carbon frame

TA03 alloy shocks

0.4 pinion and spur

TB01 alloy motor mount

TB01 alloy prop shafts

TG10 alloy steering set

TG10 steering adjustable turnbuckle

TG10 turnbuckle set

TB01 alloy gear box mounts.

TB01 alloy suspension mounts front and rear.

Alloy wheel hexes

I do have the ball diff and TB01 one way but they aren't fitted.

TG10 stabiliser kit again not fitted as it won't mount to the alloy arms.

I added the rear alloy gear box mount. Just because I had one.

As you can see the carbon frame has been used and isn't brand new. Which is fine for the price I paid for it.

I tried to use a all the kit screws where I could but the frame kit doesn't take into consideration the alloy hop ups so I've had to use a few countersunk machine screws here and there for the alloy motor mount and gear box mounts.

Proper chassis porn👍

Definitely needs the aluminium servo stays, I think a set of aluminium dampers 49141 would really finish it off.

So how much different is this to a tb evolution 1/2. Looks pretty sweet either way.

I'll be sticking with these dampers just because they are the recommended ones in the manual.

Blue or silver alloy servo stays?

The Evolutions have the wide arm kits and I believe the long axle cvds to match the wide arms. Carbon shock towers and ball diffs front and rear. Someone with more knowledge on the Evos can confirm that.

Correct 👍except they came with a front one-way diff.

The 2 has aluminium bulk heads.

How come Tamiya did alloy arms for the TG10? I have never seen alloy arms from Tamiya before.

They had a moment of madness I think, they are very nicely made.

I honestly don't know. Just seen the blue ones on eBay along with the silver ones.

I think the picture is a fake/error or just a not original item. The TRF414 servo stay #53308 is silver and TB01 #53596 is silver too. Only the old #49092 is blu, but it's made for the first TG10 (and TA01/03), so I do not know if is a perfect fit for the TB01...

The 53308 set suits thicker servos and was I think the first aluminium stays, 49092 is the same size just blue.

53596 should work on the tb01.

The ones on ebay(blue/silver/orange) are copies not genuine tamiya parts but look like a nicely made item.

53366 TG10 Gearbox mount.

It's for the front only.... but fit on rear too, any issue on every day usage?

I was confused by this too. It was @GooneyBirdwho figured it out. If you fit it on the rear it leaves very small gaps where dirt could enter the pinion/spur area. The standard plastic part is longer to block these gaps.
