hi,

A year ago i bought a tamiya top force which a guy tried to convert to an evo. Now i've finally got round to do some work on it. Basically, I'm about halfway there. Bodyset is from the evo, front universal joints are in, rubber sealed bearing set is almost complete, i've got the evo topdeck, and i've got the front hi cap damper set.

so, that leaves me with:

the bottom deck and rear damper mount which i'm getting from fibre-lyte

rear hi caps which i've seen at a couple of places,

univeral's for the rear hopefully from rainbow 10

i've found someone with a front damper stay and will hopefully get it.

That leaves me with the orange wheels, lightweight diffs, titanium screws and a torque splitter. Now, am I right in thinking i can dye my normal top force rims orange? I've given up hope on the lightweight diff so I'm gonna leave the normal ones in. Tamiya titanium screws can be bought off ebay (i think). I'm not sure about the torque splitter, has my top force already got one?

Now, I need a new motor. the dynatech 02h is way too expensive, I may get one later. How good are the Tamiya Super Stock Motor TZ and the Tamiya Super Stock Motor RZ? Which one would be better for a 4wd buggy?

Also, I've contacted kamtec and hopefully I can get them to make a repro of the top force evo body. i want an evo body in gunmetal, not blue like i have now. Anyone know where i can get an evo decal set (even repro ones)?

Thanks for reading

Torque splitter isn't always advantageous, I am not a big fan of of them, as well as one way diffs etc...

The RZ and TZ are fine motors, but in the end 23T motors, I would preffer something hotter on a 4WD buggy, if you want one of them the TZ is better for it, as 4WD buggies need more torque due to their weight, traction and transmission losses.

I was thinking of getting a Tamiya motor but what other ones would you recommend, considering i have a 11turn limit on my esc

thanks

11T might be too low for a buggy, also wouldn't recommend the cheapest motors as they have low efficiency and produce alot of heat, I was also buying $20-$30 motors till I tried a $50+ one, couldn't believe the difference.

When I was racing about a decade ago, I would run a Reedy 13 turn modified in my Top Force. Due to issues with gear ratio, I would not run anything hotter than that, it's more than fast enough..
