Opel coupe v8 decal help

I love a nicely finished new body but can't stand masking and painting 🙁

Has anyone on here painted a Opel V8 coupe body? Where the yellow meets the white there's large decals which should cover the join but, the masking process is driving me mad! 

Am I better of pulling off the protective film and applying the decals on the join then masking to suit? It would mean cling filming the outside afterwards obviously. 

Really don't enjoy this part of building 🙁
