Doc Hollywood 160 Posted July 31, 2019 Hi All I would like to upgrade the wild willy M38 gear box with ball races but cant find flanged ball bearings the right size. Dose anyone know whether you can get these if so were from and what bearing number are they. The flanged bearings are also the same as the 3 speed gearboxes in blazing blazers/Toyota Hilux. Also wondering if you can get nylon idler gears for the wild willy gearbox as the aluminium one has worn down to nothing its position in the main gearbox is next to the one that has the shaft protruding out for the universal joint. Thanks in advance
waterbok 1282 Posted July 31, 2019 Yes nylon idler can be found in the lunchbox gearset. Bearings I got mine from ballbearings.co.uk Depending on gearbox swb or lwb you will need different bearings, the sizes should be in some other we thread. And you probably will need some shims to keep the flanged bearings in place.
Juggular 4964 Posted July 31, 2019 I always buy individual bearings. I do remember not being able to find some of the flange bearings. I did consider putting in a bunch of 850 bearings in certain places. But I forgot what I did in the end. lol... not helpful at all. Maybe I should consider @waterbok said and look into bearing sets!

They don't have a set for the M38 you will have to get the right sizes individualy from them. I just can't find my list which ones.
