I was going through a box of vintage Tamiya parts i purchased and came accross an original black SRB front bumper. While checking to see if it was an early part, i noticed that the word buggy has been misspelled, it only has one B. I checked against another early one i have and looked on line, and discoverd that some had one B others had two.

Any ideas why?

You're lucky to have one with 'Bugy' on it , obviously a mis-print that was picked up later by Tamiya . This has been discussed on here in other threads ;)

This is the first time i have come across it.

It is in vergood condition too, its not scuffed or scratched. There is a crack that looks more like it was stepped on, and or some reason someone has painted it gloss black. I will remove the paint and make a repair to the crack and put it on my early scorcher.

Be careful removing the paint and what you use to remove it. I tried oven cleaner and then brake cleaner on a similar black painted bumper. I'm not sure if it was the paint that was used or the oven cleaner that caused this white haze. The haze may have been unavoidable altogether.

Even the modern Kyosho stuff has plenty of engrish, let alone the old Japanese manuals. Haven't seen typos on parts before though :)

They’re rare but they’re out there...

Of the 40+ bumper parts I’ve had over the years only 2 have this spelling error

Agree - fun but not rare sir

I’ve got 3 bought with their original built kits - others no doubt have similar / more ?

Would be very interested in a NIB serial number hosting a proven untouched ‘Bugy’ though

Purely to date it ?

Probably a pipe dream as bumpers are too easily interchangeable 🙄
