What's on your shopping/wish list?

Recommended Posts

We've had a lot of philosophical "state of the hobby" type threads recently, but we haven't done a "whatcha wanna buy next" thread for a while...

For me, it's pretty simple...

1. Optima/Javelin/Turbo Optima: Still need to get one of these. I held off on the Optima because I had a feeling they'd do a Javelin; now i have an ill-fitting Javelin cage on my original Optima. I'm leaning towards the Turbo, just because I always liked the bigger 8-hole wheels. Then I could move the Javelin cage over to that, and have a "Turbo Javelin." In any event, I need to sell some scaler/crawler stuff first.

2. TA-02 Lancia 037: I can't believe I don't own one of these yet. I passed up a deal on the TA-03 version back when my local hobby shop was clearing them out in 2003, and have regretted it ever since. Need to pick one of these up before they go away. I'm up for a promotion at work; maybe I'll treat myself to one if it comes through.

After that... I don't know. For some reason I keep looking longingly at Bigwigs. And that Ultima re-issue is going to be hard to resist. But then, I still also want a Marui Big Bear restoration project... argh. There's always something, isn't there?

How about everyone else? What are you daydreaming about these days?

RC10s. RC10s as far as the eye can see. Seriously, I somehow have six now. I'm also hot to get the new Ultima rerelease. The Turbo Optima and Turbo Scorpion still tempt me, but are too similar to the Optima and Scorpion I already have. I do want to get a Javelin cage for my Optima runner though.

I'm also surprised I haven't picked up a Lancia 037. Something about how 10th scale rally cars handle the rough stuff doesn't look right to my eye. They look too jittery and skippy which ruins the illusion for me, so that's probably why I've stayed away.

Tamiya, in general, hasn't been lighting my fire of late. I oddly found myself not loving my Super Astute for some reason. Weird. The CC-02 does have me interested. Strange, considering I wasn't a fan of the CC-01. I guess I don't like IFS on my scale trucks.

I went through a serious RC10 kick a few years ago; I must have bought and sold a dozen. I think my peak was 8 at one time. Now, I have 2.9 of them... they do seem to travel in packs more than some other vehicles.

I'd love to have an unmolested gold pan RC-10, but the prices on them have gotten ridiculous in the past five years.

I'm about done gathering parts on my next project. It's taken a long time and I'm at roughly 85%. I printed out all extra manual pages with the parts layout and have laid out the individual parts on top of the pages and marked them off in green highlighter as I've collected them. I have the body completed painted in box art colors, along with the driver. The electronics are all ready to go along with the motor.

I refuse to say what the project is until I have every last part, as to not jinx myself in not being able to find the last remaining parts, and to keep "Parts Investors" from jacking up prices and gouging collectors.

Then it's "build weekend" where I get to enjoy two full days of assembling this thing.

But for other projects it's:

- M01 Mini bodyset

- McLaren MP4/6 body for my F103

- ABS Wing for my Tyrrell P34 six-wheeler

- WW2 roll cage with lights

I am on a bit of a de-fleet at the moment. Picked up too many projects that were fun to build/restore but i am not fussed about running them. Once i have made some space, i do have a little bit of the on road bug at the moment following my first races. That said, my current kit ambitions are pretty low : I think i would like a TT01E with a nice scale shell built to the most basic Iconic Stock class. Seeing how fast some of the jockeys at the club were slinging theirs around made me quite jealous. Maybe a Mustang GT4 body.

I just looked at my shelf of rc last night. I think I've determined I need to sell my X-Maxx. I also have a 10+ year old HPI Baja that is electric but I'd rather keep that.  I'm not running them enough and the cost of those 3s and 4s lipos are the prices of a Tamiya kit. I also have too many projects: unfinished/unpainted Rough Rider, unfinished Ranger xlt, an unfinished XR311, and an unpainted Mad Bull. Then I have a Thunder Dragon that needs parts for a rebuild.

I still have a wish list though: a semi truck kit eventually with sound, an Agrios, and maybe a tank.

I have bought so much over the last few years that I don’t have a shopping list at the moment. I’m out of space and have a huge list of projects.

I was desperate for an M08 before it came out but can’t get enthusiastic about it when I have to sort out my M04s and I have a TB-05 Pro to build.

On the wish list is time and energy. Tonight is my only available RC night for four weeks and I’m browsing on the internet...

Hang on, a CC-02 could tempt me (not the Merc though).

Why the regret? Yes, the word regret is as complicated as it's simple, but basically you shouldn't have any regrets, because your actions are based on the knowledge/feelings you have at that time (Personally I think they should only be based on knowledge), wrong or right doesn't matter, as there may be no right/wrong due to the lack of knowledge. Would you want to take a look into the future? I'd rather not, I'd possibly kill myself whether the future is good or bad, as I just ruined the surprise...

Of course there are always exceptions, willingly making a wrong decision could possibly lead to regret, but that's part of life, and "unfortunately" those mistakes/wrong decisions, which we all make, help you grow in life and (hopefully) make better decisions next time.

Just keep in mind that you need a goal to progress ;)

Personally I don't think I daydream a lot, and the stuff on my "next list" isn't really exciting, but my wish/next list is huge and I try to be realistic, so some of the items on my wish list won't come soon for sure, if ever.

Please ban me from these kind of threads, I talk too much (and you never shut up -> Run DMC)

There’s always something on the wish list, but by the time suitable funds are available a better deal on something else turns up or a stronger urge for something else puts a spanner in the works. But currently under consideration are,

Turbo Scorpion/ Ultima

 A 2nd Sand Scorcher,

Wild One

Traxxas Bigfoot ( flame paint job )

Follow me Drone ( for filming cars & General have a go at flying )

Rally car.

Drift car.

Chassis for a Street Scorcher.

Kyosho 1/8 Nitro Buggy.

The big one is a 1/14 Truck . Trouble is what I’d like to do is a custom build but I’d need a King Hauler chassis with a Grand Hauler cab + lots of other bits including radio gear for 💰💰💰💰💰

Decisions decisions...........🤔

Like most I have a wish list but it probably won't happen, as when it comes to actually spending the money I will decide against it. Although i hope a Top Force and Super Astute somehow find their way into the fleet...

My next purchase won't be cheap, the HB D219 is out soon and its time to upgrade the Ultima. I've been so slack selling the Lazer that I'll probably be able to put that money towards the D219, since the purchase of the D418 is long forgotten

Otherwise I'm still making the Racing Sparrow so that always needs stuff, its paint this week.

Collection now tightened after 12 months effort / wasted costs 🙄 so can finally have a little fun.

My list is small but tricky as I’m after vintage NIB to build this Autumn.

So anyone prepared to part with a NIB 959 or 956 please PM !

Also sorely tempted by the Ultima re re but undecided whether to restore originals instead 🤔

This is a good question! I have calmed down my purchases over the last 2 years or so but the key cars I've always wanted (for me its always nostalgia) I have because my list wasn't that long! the last one was the fantastic turbo optima but I would love a re-re-release of the dyna storm also if we had a release of the original Porsche 959/Toyota celica but it would have to be a genuine re-release of that rc not some random chassis with the body on it!

I have thought about getting a SCX10, or an MST CFX, but not sure I would use it, and it's pointless when I am more interested in selling stuff.

I still want to do a Bruder skid steer conversion, but I don't have anything to load 😄

For me it’s pretty easy-

King Cab

2014 Kyosho Beetle

But probably not for a while yet, quite a lot of kit and a few cars to move along before I buy anything else and a couple to finish off and enjoy before laying out any more cash on rc 👍

Not really sure.  The next big purchase on my wishlist is a 3D printer.  Expecting a bit of a cash windfall in September which might cover it, if not I'll save up into October.

I've also decided I want to build a home gym, which is going to eat right into the RC budget, but I'm hoping to be a bit more cash rich for the next few months to cover it.  Time will tell, though.

I've also got a whole load of unfinished or half-finished projects, all of which will need money spending to get them right.  My Mod Clod needs new axle mounts, servo savers and servos.  Upgrading all my big rigs to my Arduino MFC will cost money in radio sets and parts, although I can sell off the Tamiya MFCs after.

I was planning to buy a new programmable radio this month but I decided against it as I want to borrow one to try with my Arduino MFC before I buy.  If I can't make it do what I want out of the box I'll stick with a cheap Turnigy 9X for each truck because I know how to modify them to work.

I want to add more trailers to my big rig fleet, but I've told myself not to buy any more trailers until I've successfully Arduino'd the ones I've got.  Once I get this MFC project finished I'll probably open the floodgates for a whole load of purchases.

I'm intrigued by the CC02, but seeing what it is, but I'll withhold any more promises until I see the spec.  I want something to go under my Mad Max F150 - the modified TL01 looks great but doesn't perform.  But it might be that the CMX is the better chassis once price and spec on the Tamiya are known.  Or maybe I just won't bother, because the truck never gets driven anyway.

I keep getting tempted to head into town and impulse-buy something out of the local shop.  I've done it before and no doubt I'll do it again.  My supply of NIBs is diminishing and I could do with restocking it for a rainy day.

A month ago I agreed to buy a CC01 Land Cruiser and a Lunchbox from a friend, but I've been too busy to go pick them up.  I'm seeing him on Saturday so will end up swapping more money for more cars.  I don't really need either but they free up some parts for other cool projects.  I was going to build a CC01 Land Cruiser from parts I already have, but instead I can use my NIB LC body on my 2.2 bitza project and use the CC01 chassis as a RWD Escort rally car, complete with 3D printed front suspension parts for more steering lock and probably a gyro to help control it.

Wow, so many projects, so little time.

Just gotta keep my hands in my pockets until I can afford that 3D printer...
