Anyone else like me likes collecting odd ball tamiya gear?

Transmitters and batteries are my thing.

I have a healthy collection of cars too just like the more unusual as well.

Guilty of all weird stuff. Notable purchases below.

Original grasshopper and Supershot I picked up awhile ago came with loads of  humpback 6 cell packs and a pair of early futaba radios, one twin stick and one beige metal case one with a wheel.

I bought two or Golden Arrows till I got one that worked

Three Nikko Quattro's to get one that worked

A Nikko 959 because of the hardbody

An original Hornet because it came with a White Futaba attack radio.

At this point I have too many Magnum Jr's, and would like to trade a few on for the higher spec models of the period.

Oh, Futaba radios and vintage battery packs... they're SWEET. I've collected some. I love them. My buddy @Crash Cramer got a super nice collection of all the 70's and 80's Futaba surface radios and Tamiya batteries with orig packages. They're all in glass cases.

Yep, I like old radio gear, motors, batteries and even chargers, I have a few bits an pieces of each, including a NIB 7.2v Hump Pack, which I only discovered the other day when I moved my original Sand Scorcher box and thought it was heavy, so I opened it to have a look and found the battery in there, was pleasantly happy.

I can see why you collect transmitters & batteries it's rc history what we take as modern tech 10-20-30 years passed is really interesting! I remember back in the day being absolutely amazed at the fact that tamiya had introduced a 2400mAh battery when we had at best 1400mAh in our Beattie's bags😀! I've been collecting old brushed motors I'm finding them very interesting used ones especially because they have a bit of history about them when we scratched or wrote what turn it was (or we made it) brushless and lipo have kinda made things dull it that respect!

Honestly quite relieved to read this and realise it’s not just me 😂

Yes to 70s / early 80s NOS - largely Futaba r/c sets and boxed Tamiya batteries / chargers.

Also NOS vintage hop up packs Tamiya recommended for each of my collection back in the day - and their 76 to 92 catalogs plus 79 to 87 r/c guide books ...

Never thought of adding motors but it’s an interesting idea 🤔

My radio collection is getting rather large. And not by choice :/ But it is cool having stuff from overseas that we here didn't get in the States.

I've several of each, can't resist a new or mint one when they turn up.

I thought you were a nitro man 🤔

I'm there with the radio sets, its strictly Acoms for me though.... I have 7 original boxed sets and about a dozen loose radios.

Not weird at all...

I have the georgia tamiya mini models - Tamiya / Coke (Georgia Coffee i think) 1/100 scale models.

I have all 10 still in their caps (I thought I’d purchased the secret one but can’t find)
