Metal -maro 30 Posted October 17, 2019 On to the soft top doors. I made a template for the lower half of the door to aid in placing and cutting the fabric to shape. Then transferred the door frame profile to the fabric. I used an iron to fold and crease the fabric for nice clean edges. I used three ring binder plastic page protectors as my window material. I used a hot glue gun to attach the window to the fabric. I experimented with other glues but all bled through the fabric.
Metal -maro 30 Posted October 17, 2019 Then more hot glue to secure it to the door. Then wrap it around and glue again. Repeat for the other side...
Metal -maro 30 Posted October 21, 2019 To finish the top I need to frame out around the doors. I started with some support. I took some balsa and trimmed it out. Starting from the front, I glued on the top and worked my way back.
Metal -maro 30 Posted October 21, 2019 From front to back, stretching it over the hoops. And making a pattern for the rear window. This shot shows the mounts which I made flush. I didn't like those sticking out.

Blissard 359 Posted October 24, 2019 Great work! Texture on the soft top looks great. What happened to the front bumper ? I'm looking for a partial decal sheet if you have one for sale.

I can't seem to see them in the CC01 Wrangler manual at all?? Sorry not trying to hijack your thread just thought you might know? I would say they were/are for fitting optional side running boards/sliders - presumably Tamiya intended to offer a body upgrade 'chrome package' set or something, but never got round to it? You could always use them to mount your own custom/aftermarket ones too of course. Jx

The body isn't mounted yet (it's just sitting on the chassis). I have to adjust the rear mounting pins lengths since I smoothed out the rear mounting locations in the shell. Jurassic Park ones, or ones that come with the original Jeep?

Metal -maro 30 Posted October 27, 2019 Time to start wiring up the lights and prep them for paint. The Mopar lightbar and rear fogs shown. All the 3D printed parts needed a coating of 2 part epoxy thinned with lacquer thinner to aid in filling the rough printing texture before paint. Adding in LEDs... Metal -maro 30 Posted October 27, 2019 I decided to test my home made decals before putting them on. I put one on the old hard top and then let the faucet drip on it for an hour. This was a new technique I thought of. I printed the images onto paper and gave the back side a coat of white paint (to keep colors from showing through). Then used clear lacquer to seal the images. It seems to work. Here I am test fitting the light bar. The wood is glued on as place to hold it by. JP logo is installed. I don't have a picture of me cutting individual lenses for the fog lights and the light bar. It took lots of hand sanding on tiny little Plexiglas rectangles to get them to fit.

I'll sell it cheap. My wife found it taking up space in the office and said to get rid of it. It's in good shape on a minor scratch on the back. PM me if interested. Do you still have this? If so what do you want for it?
