toyolien 4680 Posted November 4, 2019 Apologies if this isn't the correct forum. I did look through them, and 'All Things Electric' seemed to be the closest fit. I want to buy a 240v temperature adjustable soldering station. I've got up to £100 or there abouts. Ideally I'd like it to have a few different shaped tips. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you.
NobbySideways 113 Posted November 4, 2019 Antex are pretty good, I'm an aircraft electrician and in most companies I've been to they have used those or Weller. For adjustable irons we used a Weller from RS which was around the £80 mark. However for my own use I've stuck with Antex. Most of the time those soldering stations were set to 330 degrees and then never moved again. As a result I didn't bother with adjustability for my own gear. martinjpayne 273 Posted November 4, 2019 Used to use Metcal and Pace before I retired from the defence industry. Can't justify those sort of prices for home use, so have successfully used one of these for the last couple of years: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0719H8T8Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and a pack of these tips: https://www.amazon.co.uk//gp/product/B017A1ZJSY/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
graemevw 823 Posted November 4, 2019 I use weller as i worked with them in an electronics factory for years. Adjustable is handy, quite often i have to turn it up for larger scale work (rc batteries etc) but if i then do a small pcb job i can turn it back down. I dont see the point in paying extra for digital display, a dial is good enough for me.
yogi-bear 2321 Posted November 4, 2019 I have an earlier version of one of these. I like that is got the hot air gun for doing heat shrink.
