Servo for CR01

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm new to this Hobby. I just got a second hand Tamiya CR01.

Unfortunately the servo is not working so I have to replace it. I want to replace it for a better one but I need buy online. I'm not sure about the size or model that can fit to the CR01. Also what is the right voltage?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I would go for metal gear, ball bearing servo with high torque.

1)  Turnigy $10 servo gives you 14kg of torque.  That's more than 3 times the strength of "Standard" Futaba S3003 servo (4kg).

2)  Here is $25 servo with 23kg of torque.  That's almost 6 times the strength of S3003 servo, which should be more than enough.

3)  If you want something crazy like 30kg, they've got that too for $40.  But this one might tiny bit taller than "standard size."  So make sure there is a room for it, if you want this one.

Many servos use 25 splines, just like Tamiya and Futaba.  But it never hurts to double check.

I have been using these 20kg servos in all of my crawlers (including my CR01) for the past 2 years or so and have never had one fail, not even when being submerged in water - https://www.amazon.com/ANNIMOS-Digital-Waterproof-DS3218MG-Control/dp/B076CNKQX4/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=20kg+servo&qid=1572909008&sr=8-4

They are standard 25t and come with an aluminum horn if you need it.  They do make a 25kg version that I use on truck siwth Clod-sized tires, but your CR-01 most likely doesn't need that.

That 20kg servo looks good.  $16 for a 20kg servo is very good.  I might give it a try for my Juggernaut.

I have been using the hitec 5645 for a lot of cars recently. Cost is less than 40$ and it seems quieter than others which I appreciate most.i have only just now checked the specs it is only 10kg at 4.8v. does work well in my CR01 however.
