Is it possible to make this chassis without any spacers at all and therefore shorter than 210mm? I realise it would need a shortened propshaft. If yes any idea what the wheelbase would be?

Not sure about the MF01X, but what wheelbase are you aiming for? I ask because the GF01 is 173mm wheelbase and uses TL01 suspension parts, so if swap arms and driveshafts for M03 parts you have a short wheelbase 4wd M width chassis. Gearing is quite low though, although again might fixable with M03 high speed gearsets.

I'd like to use the MF01x to produce  a series of cars. I particularily like 60/70's rally cross cars so would like to look at say Hilman Imp/Stiletto, Ford Anglia, 3 ltr Capri and Mk1 Escort, but then be able to convert back to a Beetle rally and maybe a Jiminy:rolleyes:. Mad I know but its a challenge and theres nothing stock in a box in the Tamiya range that excites me at the moment:( Dont know the measurements of the bodies but all can be got from Kamtec along with some other interesting ideas so shouldnt be too difficult to get dimmesions. The imp would be left as rear wheel drive so no new drive shaft. The Anglia would have to be 4wd as I think there were a couple of experimental ones running around on Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon

Has anybody fitted the Yeah Racing full suspension kit to this. It seems to make the suspension much more fluid along with slightly more travel, without changing width or ride height. Also seems quite good value for money. I fitted the full kit to my CC01 and that worked out cheaper than buying separate upgrades and works really well. Also what shocks are recommended to replace the pogo stick standard dampers?

Yes @Busdriver

The YR kit is very good value and amazingly well designed.

Included it in a similar MF01x rally build about 3 years ago - plus every sensible hop up - and the weight ended up needing a lot of power ... which, in use, was then too much for the remaining plastic.

If you’re going to mooch around a flat, benign, dirt track with a bit of wheel spin this will be a hugely rewarding project sir.

If - like me - you want to recreate 70s rally jumps and a little drifting then you’re much better starting somewhere else.

PS The chassis can be built w/o spacers - which to be fair will make it stronger 👍

Did wonder if weight might be a problem, also I dont fancy all the blue. Think I'll stick to stock to start with. Can always upgrade as I go along.
