mtbkym01 4008 Posted November 12, 2019 Probably been asked 1000 time, but what is everyone’s method of cutting down body posts so as they look nice and neat, not just “hacked” off. Pics of results would be awesome, cheers
martinjpayne 273 Posted November 12, 2019 I use one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolson-22410-Mini-Tube-Cutter/dp/B001KOTNMQ/ref=pd_sbs_60_img_1/257-5604630-7309263?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B001KOTNMQ&pd_rd_r=c0b31c01-bebc-4b0b-ac21-f726b1ec84a8&pd_rd_w=2H58b&pd_rd_wg=MVHT9&pf_rd_p=e44592b5-e56d-44c2-a4f9-dbdc09b29395&pf_rd_r=RZ557Y67DCFF0DFWKZD8&psc=1&refRID=RZ557Y67DCFF0DFWKZD8 Pics... Just tighten and rotate post, tighten and rotate post until the end falls off. Takes less than a minute. Hope this helps. 9
taffer 948 Posted November 12, 2019 I use a body post cutter! Pretty good results, can even chamfer the ends!
Bromley 681 Posted November 12, 2019 I just chop them roughly with side cutters then trim them neatly with a craft knife.

juleo68 176 Posted January 5, 2020 Hi For myself, I use a miter saw (I' m cabinet maker) or I fix the body post on my lathe... I recognize that the pipe cutter is a nice solution Regards

OnTheTrail 1152 Posted December 29, 2021 Oh darn......I came here to post how I finally found the perfect way to cut down body posts where they look somewhat professional. Apparently there are several of you as smart as I am (and faster at being smart....) who also own a small tubing cutter.
Willy iine 18805 Posted December 30, 2021 I've seen the Yeah Racing body post trimmer and while the idea is fine, the end result was no better than me rolling a body post under my Olfa knife.. That said, I don't use any fancy tools.. just Tamiya trimmer if the posts are already on the car, or roll it under my knife to cut. I usually follow up with some matte black enamel to hide any white marks on the cut surface.
alvinlwh 5895 Posted December 30, 2021 Hack it off with whatever I have to hand, side cutters, junior hacksaw, etc... and then finish it off with a file. However I no longer cut body post anymore as I now see them as extra protection in a roll over. Hack too much and roll overs can ground it down to a point of being unable to secure the body anymore and I will need a new parts tree to replace them.
Mad Zero 316 Posted January 10, 2022 Used to cut mine down low as possible because I didn’t like looking at them - snip off at the hole above, file flat & de-burr with a fag lighter.
