stew_mac 326 Posted December 28, 2019 took the TRF out for a few runs today. Not the best results as the new mamba monster X kept hitting a cutoff and stopping the run. first run was 117mph but as you can see it hit the "Rapid Temperature Increase" cut off and killing the run. the next run i use some more distance and was a little easier on the throttle and it managed 121mph but again it hit the cutoff. im going to switch back to the mamba monster 2 with a bigger cap pack to try and reduce the ripple.
stew_mac 326 Posted December 31, 2019 Well I finally did it. 128mph with a Tamiya! Now all i need to do is get a better battery, better cap pack and a better motor and go for 130mph.
stew_mac 326 Posted January 21, 2020 So it's been a bit quite on the speed front. I sold the motor from the TRF to help found a new one. i have also put together a TA07 to sell. again to found the new motor. and lastly i installed a signal booster so i can get some more distance for the speed runs
stew_mac 326 Posted March 23, 2020 So it’s been a little while but I have been chipping away. (no idea why this platform puts the image in upside down) I sold the TA07 and a few other things. So I was able to buy a Neu motor. The gold standard for speed run cars.
stew_mac 326 Posted November 25, 2020 Little update I moved interstate and it took 11 months to find a good road to use. But we have a new road and the results were pretty good.

Scaling from a 1/10 to a 1/1 is not liner it’s exponential. The force’s and power would not simply be 10x as much with a real car. that pass produced 4hp there is no way a 1/1 car with 400hp would do even 200mph. That would be nice to watch.

I is very much a different disipan to straight line speed so my car would definitely not perform well turning a corner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8i350geW8o

That guy Nic Case is the fastest in the world at 202mph in a straight line. So if he can only go 90mph in a circle I won’t be able to faster.

At those kinds of speeds, where reducing drag is four times as effective as increasing power, would it be worth covering the wheels, as in not chopping out the arches in the lexan. The technical term is wheel spats. A bit like a Honda Insight, Citroen CX or the Jaguar XJR-9? Did I mention excellent work chap?

The wheels themselves will create turbulence so having the body open might help remove the bad air. But RC speed is not quite the same as 1:1 speed. This body type has gone 179mph on a Traxxas 4-tec with the wheel arches cut out.
EvilSpike 294 Posted November 26, 2020 Absoloutley, you're very much on the experimental edge of what works and what is possible. Just wondered if you've tried it, I'm am absolute idiot for Citroen's, especially Robert Operons masterpiece the CX and he played with design to reduce drag back before fully digitised wind tunnels and FE modelling was a thing. I'm just interested to see if it would help or hinder this particular instance. Either way, well done, that's a brutally epic top speed
stew_mac 326 Posted November 26, 2020 Personally I have not tried it. I just kept and eye on the guys that are faster. the last thing I want to be do is experimenting at these speeds hahahaha. 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

Do you think that was down to the line he was taking? maybe it would of been better using the out side line, I'm not saying i could do any better! it looks hard to steer.
