Worlds Fastest Tamiya

Recommended Posts

I went out the other weekend with a bigger pinion and a little more timing to try and get a 140mph pass.... unfortunately I was not so successful.

Its not on the video, right? Did you vaporized the chassis or can you still use it?

who knows.... maybe the youtube vid might show it, and then show the car and the damage. One will never know, unless they click on the link.

Man, I saw the video with 2 propper runs. Its not that I am satisfacted about rc takeoffs but I might become blind.

Edit:  3Min20 found it. It was simply... way to fast for me : )

Edit2: Lucky you! Have made some worse crashes at much lower speed. Pretty rigide chassis you have.

Little update.

I rebuilt the car after it took off last time out. finally got a good quality battery in it now so I have power and volts for days.

first test and I ran out of range. So new aerials on order and will be back out again soon.

How are the belts holding up between the drag racing and these speed runs?

Only speed runs at this stage. I want to reach 141mph before doing some drags.

but the rear belt takes the most punishment and after a 128, 138 and 136mph pass it’s still looking good.

New PB of 142mph on 3s.

The little Tamiya has been running like a champ.

The sign says 60.

(The street sign) I mean..

How do you see it when it's so far away??.

I think I'd need binoculars,, or paint the front a different colour.

I put a flag on my speed run car and I'm only aiming for 50..  maybe I should visit the opticians. Lol

It’s just a technique. I didn’t always run such a distance I worked up to it. But realistically you are following a spec on the horizon. If it’s warm enough the car will get lost in the haze on the road.

144mph with 3s in parallel.

That is crazy fast. My 1:1 car can't go that speed.

I think most 1:1 cars might struggle..

What do you think it will take to squeeze it up to 150mph?

I cant watch the videos on my phone - are you topping out the gearing or running out of road?

I’m not 100% sure this motor will get that extra couple of mph. The last gear change dropped the rpm from 65,000 to 58,000. So it’s really impacting the motors power now.

also the esc stops recording amps over 376 so I’m not sure how much more I’m demanding from the motor.

the road in plenty long enough. Just not sure the motor has the legs for it. I have looked into a custom motor, and will also need a custom spur gear or 2.

If your looking for the last very bit, try other clips. the one you are using making little air turbulences....

Made another pass today.

unfortunately a motor wire unsoldered so I couldn’t return the car so the speed doesn’t count.

First test pass with the new TP power motor.

Just a little pass only just slightly touching 100% power out.
