Talk about excitement. This is definitely one of those buggies that I wanted as a kid. I really do hope this leads to the Subaru Brat being re-released as well. Couldn't afford these as a kid and still can't afford a new one with the high prices on ebay. This is really making it accessible to so many people. Well done Tamiya.

Excellent!! will buy one for sure! also, finally i won't have to worry about stripping my runner hex shafts... I do hope tamiya won't go 100% original with this one and will supply the rerelease with a redesigned diff.

Well, the road is open to it now,

Just a case of making body sets and some small modifications.

Keep them comming Mr Tamiya

Ow, sideline question for the insider :(

When does the re-release C-groups going to hit japan / hong kong?

And, any clue what the "ebay price" going to be??

This is incredible really - when you consider only less than a year ago our forums were alive with all kinds of "wish they would re-release the .."..etc.. threads, with no real inside information to spur us on, (at the start anyway,) only hope.

And now here we are. We have the Hornet, GH, and LB, this year so far, and now there's a 'ribbit' sound coming from somewhere..

This surely is 'dreams coming true' for a lot of us here, and how many other hobbies will give that much excitement..??

Collecting Tamiya R/C is the BEST !!!!!

Absolutely agree [^], on every re-re I can only say THANK YOU TAMIYA! It seems like a positive dream, especially when I imagine Hornet/GH/Frog or LB/MP fun races again or a kid starting RCing with one of those [8D] Which other company does such a thing, bringing back the good old of stuff and times for its fans? Its like if Ford would re-release the real old Mustang, Mercedes its Gullwing, Alfa Romeo the GTA etc., just too good to be true and no one else will do it.

It would be interesting to sit in on some of their marketin meetings.

I'm not convinced how much of the decision is based on pleasing tamiya fans and how much is based on

- cheapness of producing these kits (which to most of the current generation are New kits)

- Tamiya spotting a niche in the market for 'Well built Fun Radio Control cars', they've probably watch nikko and tyco gradually take over that market and thought 'hang on we started that' - so the quickest easiest way back into the market, is to throw out some rereleases that sold well the first time around. Like I said before to most of the kids buying them the are New models.

I am not sure on that as a Super Fighter G is cheaper then a Hornet, better to drive and probably more suitable for a beginner, I think the re-releases are actually targeted to our "30s Peter-Pan-syndrome- generation" and sell more to us then on kids who want the fastest, most modern and spacy. Even if you check the ads of the re-releases you can see its more about sentiment and history then something that would appeal to the modern youth.

true.

I'm not saying that they are not targetted at the 30 somethings at all, just saying that thats not the whole market and so not the whole deciding factor.

When it comes to kits on shelves, they are stacked up there against all the other makes and models, there is no nostalgia marketing just boxes, with kids deciding on weather to buy some generic saloon type racer or a mad yellow truck that does wheelies [:D]

Add this poster's cry of joy to the others on this thread. I am so glad that I inputted "Tamiya" into Google last summer when bored, otherwise I would still be unaware of this place and all of these fantastic re-releases. It must have been karma calling me back into the hobby at the right time after a 17 year absence. Like many I had to beg and plead for a Hotshot for Xmas all those years ago..but that was after having to choose from a range of great cars, all of which I liked one way or the other. Now I will have em all if Tamiya keep em coming!

I wont even be gutted if the Hotshot is next, since I paid £400 to bring one in from Japan last year...I'll still buy another and convert it to a Supershot!

I can't understand anyone who is negative about the re-releases. Yeah sure it's a buzz to find old, scarce cars and parts on Ebay..but it's a ridiculously overpriced buzz. I think it's even better to be able to truly re-live the hazy '80s AND make those dreams of multi-car ownership a reality. And lets face it hobby shops (in the uK anyway) now are not like they were then..back then Tamiya dominated the R/C stores, but now even my local Tamiya stockist is completely uninformed about the re-releases. When I asked them about the Hornet re-release they did'nt have a clue.

Bravo Tamiya for looking after the old-school..whatever their motivation...and keep it continuing too!

Brat, Blackfoot, Hotshot, Boomerang, F.A.V, Wild One, Fox, Falcon will all be next I reckon, and if these re-releases sell well enough they may even surprise you all and do the Bruiser and Scorcher. Here's hoping eh?

And a Tamiya kit from 1980 still blows away any modern kit from RadioShack or Toys R us. I remeber at one time Toys R us carried Tamiya and they had a picture of the Super Champ painted black in there catalog. But now they have cheap knock offs IMHO.

Seeing that this board is like magic and if we talk about it they will come lets start talking about SRB re-Releases :-)

I was more thinking of talking about wild ones and fav's[;)]

My bet is that the Frog will be unchanged except for sponsor decals and an ESC instead of MSC. Possibly might be a change to the MSC deck and gearbox sides pressed parts, but I doubt it.

The Sand Rover and Holiday Buggy should be an easy rerelease. Aside from the brass uJ´s theres nothing expensive/metal there to speak of.

Agree, would add though also normal dogbones and if they are clever combined with a ball diff, then stronger gearbox plates aren't needed.
