Alright, earlier on this month I've got a vintage Blackfoot body all stripped and it's almost ready to take the primer and later paint but I'm facing some dilemma here. First I yet have to find a way to cut and stick the front lower driver side bit (I have a good piece to glue, just haven't come down to good way to do so, permanently) and the most complex one: the hood has your typical hole (pic below). I happen to have a Clod blower around so I think I can cut off that part of the hood and get it all looking better than good. BUT, then how do I get the front part of the body attached to the chassis? I am all to avoid making any other holes for that purpose. What about velcro? I have some of that around. I know magnets can be a solution, but I don't have any around. I presume you guys have faced problems like these in the past, so if you can share some idea that would be fantastic.

The raised line in the middle of the hood makes things very complex, if it was all flat it would be a 123 to get it fixed. Oh well :(

By the way, here's the project thread:

Well, I can help you out with what glue to use. The best thing for repairing of modifying styrene/ABS bodies is solvent cement. Plastruct and Tenax are the two brands most commonly sold in hobby shops, but you might also check hardware stores. The stuff used for gluign together ABS plumbing pipes is the same thing, as far as I know. It actually melts and fuses the two pieces of plastic together, so it's a much stronger joint than something like CA-based super glue.

I did restore an orginal BF body . It was missing the lower panel part so I cast one from resin using my Ranger body as a mold . I bonded it on to the body with a strong adhesive and then laminated a thin backing of styrene plastic card . Same with the hood hole , backed it first with thin styrene and then infilled the missing space with styrene pieces melted in with liquid solvent and final fill . I also replaced the roof gutters and fill countless holes  ;) See last pic of how it started off

The problem is one point is weaker than 2 points

I also carried out a mod on a Brat and a Ranger which provides 2 new front supports as well as the original centre one . I guess this could be an easy mod for a blackfoot from the top of the front damper tower

+1 on the solvent cement tip. It melts everything into 1 piece rather than just gluing them together.

I used velcro to attach a PC body and it was just fine. I don't know if the weight of the hard shell would be too much to for the velcro if you are running it though.
