Hummer M1025

Recommended Posts

This was a kit I am surprised I have not seen much discussion on. I "had" one but my youngest son took off with it (actually, I let him). But, I really liked this kit. Anyone else play around with this one? Its not "too" old, and I am shocked it didn't seem be available but a few years. I would like to see it come back. This one wasn't mine. To be honest, I really don't think I ever took any pictures of mine. But my son (30 years old) still has it.

I remember this and the japanese armoured car that came on the chassis. Great bodies that look really nice but I imagine a pain to paint properly.

Are you going to "borrow" it back and refurb / run it?

No, I gave it to him several years ago. It really didnt need a refurb. I didn't run it much.  So it was in nearly new condition when I gave it to him.

Stone cold stock. I just had fun building it, ran it a little them displayed it. Son and his wife came to visit and he really liked it and remembered me playing with rc cars all his life, and wanted it. So, I let him take it home with him.

I take that back. I think it originally came with the old type mechanical speed controller, and I put an ESC in it.

Whats your next / current project? Are you on the hunt for another Hummer to fiddle about with?

Also, have you seen the new one released by the chinese company that makes the Bruiser clone? Its got some insane detail on it and looks like it doesnt weigh much less than the real thing. Will try and find a link.

At the moment, I am just playing with my Wild Willy M38 (SWB) that myself and my oldest son brought back to life again. I also used to have a Super Champ that I sold years ago, and wish that I hadn't. I wouldn't mind finding one of those again to restore, or the Sand Scorcher which is the same platform as the Super Champ. My oldest son has now got his son into RC, and wants to get an XMaxx for himself. He is really excited to get into the more modern stuff, but I am still into the old skool Tamiya stuff. So, we complement each other. My grandson is enjoying it all with us, so it's all good..

that hummer looks like a really nice kit. I am really into the realistic sale stuff. My son is more into the crazy high octane stuff that Traxxas is putting out.

I love the Tamiya Hummer, have quite a few of them.  I dont think they're popular because they really dont do anything well out of the box with the exception of look fantastic with the detailed body.  They don't handle well enough to be a great basher (think Traxxas) and they're not capable enough to be a decent crawler in stock form.  However, you can modify them to be extremely capable if you have some imagination.

On a couple of mine I have built custom plate chassis to greatly increase the ground clearance.  Along with locked differentials and better tires they can be pretty capable on the trails.  Definitely not dedicated rock crawlers, but very nice trail trucks than can keep up with some of the best if driven properly.

The first one is my mostly stock tan Hummer, second is a plate chassis truck with camo paint, and the third is a civilian bodied carbon plate chassis truck.

My first post...

M1025, I've went the wrong path and hopups with non tamiya parts, after I build the top force evo 47470(again went into wrong path going into tamiya only hopups... titanium screws).

Question: what damper oil and spring are "normally" use for M1025.

I've quite few sets of 53333, 47314 and 42168 to play with.
