juleo68 176 Posted January 8, 2020 Hi I like the 30th anniversary Porsche 934 RSR Turbo, based TA05-MS chassis...first, too expensive...and very hard to find! Here's the chassis I'll be using as a base... First issue...the chassis wheelbase is 255 / 260mm, the body 235mm...clearly not okay! See you
juleo68 176 Posted January 9, 2020 Hello! As I saying, the chassis is too long...I'm gonna have to make a shorter one but, in fisrt I have to draw it! The yellow area will be deleted, You can see the bottom one, this will be the new chassis... I begin by the wooden (mdf) prototype All positions are tip-top Now the body fit correctly!
mtbkym01 4008 Posted January 9, 2020 Had me intrigued, this is awesome, what are you using as the shorter front belt over the original?

Here the first prototype of the belt tensioner, I couldn't find a belt of the right length. And the finale parts, CNC machined, raw material is FRP, the chassis will receive a shorty lipo.
Superluminal 3750 Posted January 9, 2020 Are you cutting these yourself like the other parts in the Audi thread?

WillyChang 1814 Posted January 12, 2020 Can you estimate exactly how many teeth your belt needs to be to fit perfectly without that tensioner... either total teeth or how many teeth the original belt needs to be shortened by. I can try lookup RC belt encyclopaedia.

The original belt has 223 teeth, the new one which is a Yokomo has 160 teeth...estimating the exact number of teeth...not easy, I think you'd have to take out between 8 and 10 teeth... Bazyli 39 Posted January 13, 2020 Are there wider wheels you can mount on the rear (in matching style of course)?

Take some spare/worn belt, cut it to length and then measure length or count teeth. RC belts are standard size, module S3M if I recall corectly, so it is possible to source almost any length. Anyway, great project. Custom parts look perfect

The problem are to find different width for front / rear (rims / tires)
juleo68 176 Posted January 15, 2020 Hi Next pics with the body fitted! Before I starting to paint the body, I wanted to install the brushless combo a 13T motor! It's not that easy to get everything in place...

I can try lookup RC belt encyclopaedia. The belts are not RC specific; they are just belts. The belts are manufactured in practically every reasonable tooth count in any of the various standard tooth sizes. The factories just manufacture very wide belts to those two parameters. When you place an order with a supplier, they cut off slices of the belt in your desired width. You can have a minimum order of a single belt. That’s where the confluence of China’s manufacturing base and eagerness of many people to do a lot of work for little profit come together to benefit the hobbyist. When I was restoring a TA-04, I ordered belts that were the same tooth count and width as standard as well as more wide and with one less tooth to experiment a bit.
