hi all, basically i snapped up the Grasshopper and Lunchbox re-release but have a query about the Lunchbox rear shocks.

Where the chrome top section of the shock meets the chassis, it seems to sit a bit awkward. I was expecting it to fit quite snug but once assembled,(shock, bolt, rubber tube, nut, spring retainer) the top chrome section seems to have a lot of sideways play in it.

I have tightened it up as far as the thread on the bolt will allow but the play isnt in the travel(extension/compression) of the shock, its the top section and how it doensnt seem to sit right, causing it to slide around where it meets the chassis.

I guess if it had a neat recess to fit into,it may break this off under impact but it just seems an odd idea, which made me think of posting it here in case anyone had any ideas??

Hope this makes sense to you guys!!

Kind regards

They are all like that, the stock shock bodies don't do much besides take up some space to pre-load the springs. once the weight of the model is on them, they stay put pretty good, and I've never been able to break one of the chrome shock bodies

I agree with aconsola, in my opinion they work pretty good. As long as you dont do any faster off roading. My shocks are a bit uneven in the sense that the body leans a little bit to one side. As it is such a simple construction, i dont think it can be fixed, and it isnt a problem anyway. On the parkinglot where i drive it the most, they add to the great driving experience(!) you get from a Lunchbox.

i found the problem with the front shocks.

in when assembled the front tyres toe in quite badly.

so what i have done is put truck and get the wheels/tyres sitting sraight/level on the ground

and messured how much of the shock shaft is sticking out of the top of the chassis/front shock mount and cut some of the rubber tube that is used on the shocks and dissasemble the front shocks and put the rubber tubbing up to the top of the shaft and reasemble the shocks and hey presto the wheels/tyres sit level on the ground. now the tyres will wear evenlly.
