Wild Willy M38 hex wheel hub disassembly

Hi all,
a long-awaited dream has come true. Finally I have the opportunity to restore a Wild Willy M38, which I found on the bay. The base is in relative good condition, but it definitely needs a good cleaning. Hence I would also like to disassemble the gear box. Can someone please give me a good advice on how to take the spring splints out of the hex wheel hub. I have no clue how to and in order to avoid damage I’d need some instruction.

The pin needs to be drifted out with a punch or rod of a slightly smaller diameter than the pin whilst supporting the hex very firmly to avoid snapping the axle

Oddly enough a turnbuckle wrench works really well supporting the hex and can be the anchor point in a vice
