Different types of DF03

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a df03ra with no luck so maybe I could get a df03T and convert that instead 🤔

I know the suspension arms, dampers, mounts and various other parts are different to a df03ra but it's the main chassis I think is the same!

I could piece one together just using spare parts but I'm sure I'll need the (probably) unique screw bags only available in the kits.

Any df03 experts out there?

Thanks a lot for the above👍

Sounds like you've done this conversion yourself!?

Just had a look at tamico.de €200 for a df03ra.

wondering if I get a cheaper dark impact sell the bits I don't need then buy the parts you've listed🤔 probably better off getting a df03ra kit to save messing about.

Buy the DF-03Ra kit: you cannot get hold of the 'B Parts' for love nor money nowadays and will have to go straight down the carbon fibre hop-up route.

The DF-03 is my chassis of choice and I've got five: two buggies - a DF-03 MS and a carbon fibre hopped-up Avante Mk.II; three alloy hopped-up DF-03Ra's; and enough spares to build a sixth!

New motors and ESC's for a new year.

Depends on what you need... and if it's in the box!

Some of the parts, like the damper stays, are used but in excellent condition.

just priced everything up on tamico and it looks like its cheaper to buy their kit and sell the body, decals, wheels and tyres to get some cash back for hop ups.

Probably the best way forwards... you WILL need an aftermarket alloy steering setup, as the kit parts are as slack as a yak!

Thanks 👍

I don't usually fit any aftermarket parts but if it's blue I maybe convinced

Guess you're looking at the carbon chassis? That one has a damaged top plate and is missing the carbon gearbox spacers.

The good one (soon to be removed) is on my Avante Mk2, and doesn't do anything apart from add bling and weight!

Having a few doubts about the df03ra now!

I've seen a few pictures on Google and they sit quite high which is great for a spot of rallying but not so for tarmac 🤔

Question for @martinjpayne what's the lowest they can go without looking daft?

@svenb changed the shocks and turnbuckle positions on one of my chassis: the TrackStar big bore shocks are my only short ones... too short at 48.5mm centre-to-centre, I normally use 61mm.

Rally ride height:

Minimum ride height:

Back-to-back:

Minimum rear view:

...chassis bottoms out before full shock travel. I'd probably go for 55mm shocks and have about 15mm ride height with horizontal lower arms.
