AshRC 213 Posted February 28, 2020 Finished. Sanded his pointy nose down a bit, gave him some stubble and a grubby white shirt. Would like to have made the eyes better but I think that’s the best I can do.

AshRC 213 Posted April 10, 2020 Those eyes are insane, how do you get that amount of detail?! actually, that whole paint scheme is incredible, thats obviously your thing

It was more luck than judgement if I’m honest as it was my first WW figure using up what I had to hand. I painted the face with (all Humbrol’s) flesh mixed with a dap of mat brown. Next, gloss white for the eyes, then apply Metallic Green with a bamboo kebab skewer, and scrape through it with the tip before it dries to show the white radiating out for the iris. Then gloss black for the pupil. Then mix a bit of flesh with a touch of mat red and using the skewer again add detail to creases in the skin around the nose & eyes with a bit of smudging. The helmet was going to be Mica Petroleum the same as the car but I didn’t have any left so got the dark grey instead.
AshRC 213 Posted April 10, 2020 Bamboo skewer is a great idea. I was relying on the smallest of brushes, which was nowhere near good enough. Really impressive result 2
No Slack 454 Posted April 17, 2020 It's a younger version of me driving the FJ40. A friend used to own a 3D printing company and made a scan of my face and printed it. Weird.
AshRC 213 Posted April 21, 2020 Spent a bit more time on the eyes this time. Slowly getting better. 3
Shodog 1835 Posted April 22, 2020 Here are a few of mine. Hilux Harold painted by me. Dead Willy is a converted key chain from Disneyland. Ink washed paint on the skull and used a Bullet riddled GI Joe helmet rescued from my Dog chewing on it. Willy 1 driver custom painted for me by Fabrzio. An amazing amount of detail. Another driver Fabrzio did for me is in my Rough Rider. You can see the hair of his eyebrows. Big a fan of Matt Hicks Wild Wendy figures. My Wild Wendy 1 Here are a couple of more Wendy 3’s that don't have a vehicle yet. This is Postal Wendy. A tribute to my favorite United States postal service employee that brings me presents all the time. Here is Speed Wendy. I’m probably going to switch out Wendy 1 with this one in my blown Wild Willy 2 The grave digger 9

Killajb 1546 Posted May 26, 2021 I'm learning a TON from this thread. Most notably, how to paint the eyes.. I've got a few driver figures I can go back and try to improve on.
Dakratfink 967 Posted July 9, 2021 My dual rider driver. The decals included in the driver figure kit take care of most the details. But I still used a wash technique to get wrinkles on the shirt and gloves.
SlideWRX 785 Posted July 28, 2021 My first time painting in... 25+ years? found some really old paint and still did ok. The helmet unfortunately got many more layers than desired after some paint not working right. I like this driver figure in particular, especially for the open helmet with visor option. I can't seem to find that virtually anywhere. I'd love it, but the head is 20-30% too big. I know, it is for the comical line of cars and the trike. This one is for a off-road buggy project, and I like the modern rally helmet look. I might get the oomph to add a microphone piece in there...

Hey, thanks! if I was doing it again I’d use the gloss red on the helmet & gold on the gloves. I was going to just use the shades but stuck the eyes on for the brows and the eyes show through the glasses a bit.
