know thats a nice sight.

i already have original top force and manta ray.

but i WILL STILL BE BUYING THE RE-RELEASES.

okay i just phoned up the hobby company and asked the sales if they had any info on theses 2 models and all i got was i have never herd of them 2 models. i said to her how can you work for tamiya and never herd of the manta ray and top-force. i just can not beleive that. then she got stroppy with me and put the phone down.

these people dont deserve to work at the hobby company if they dont know there job properly and there products.

so i phoned back and asked someone else if she had and chrome or gold wheels that will fit the lunch box and she said do you have part numbers i said no as i am at work. so i said could you please try as you would have more luck than me. but she came back 5 secs later and said no. i dont think she even botherd looking.

THE HOBBY COMPANY IS AS ABOUT AS uSEFULL AS A CHOCOLATE FIREGAURD.[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!] A COMPLETE WASTE OF SPACE.

ITS NO WONDER WE BUY FROM THE uSA OR JAPAN IF THIS IS HOW WE GET TREATED.

The Hobby Company is a trade supplier - their direct sale dept is only there for spares for when you have a useless local store who won't supply you. Basically, if you phone them up and are rude (as it sounds as if you were) there's no reason why they will help you.

The MD of Hobby Co will be in Japan at present finding out about these products - the model show these kits were announced at only opened this week after all. He will not have a firm price off Tamiya for some time and ONLY then will they have info at the sales desk. And even then, just to reiterate, the sales desk is for THE TRADE.

Tamiya don't make chrome or gold wheels for the lunchbox, and frankly when there are over 6000 different parts how you expect anyone to know off the top of their head WITHOUT a part number what is available somewhat surprises me!

Just wondering as most of the tamiya mini's represent tamiya cars that are being ore are relaesed would that mean the other mini's will be rerealeased to in full 1-10 scale too? Are the mini;s Japan only? they look very cool whats the rpice of them?

They are not for sale but as a "prize" of the coffee..currently the item is on auction site " target="_blank">http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/80738473

current bid is 4000 yen...about 33US$, that's a lot

He said thats impossible because for it to be electric you cant have that only in nitro. [B)]what an idiot man. I hope they do all those little miniature re-release as the real ones.

1. The Hobby Company has only been Tamiyas distributor in the uk since 2001. No wonder they don't know what a Manta Ray or Top Force is as they never actually sold them. An equivalent would be like asking your local BMW dealer about the Morris Marina.

2. The person on the other end of the phone is employed for their ability to operate the computer system and sell over the phone, not their knowledge of Tamiyas history. If you think they should know about every R/C car Tamiya has made then they should also know about every Tamiya plastic kit and every Italeri model kit ever made as they distribute them as well.

3. The Hobby Company are trade suppliers, not retail. They should only be used as a last resort. The news about future releases will only go to the sales reps who actually go out and sell the kits, not to someone whose job is to answer the phone. Give them a part number and they can tell you if it is in stock. This is the same with any distributor, not just the Hobby Company.

4. To find out if they had chrome wheels would only take 5 seconds - they are sitting in front of the computer with the stock lists on it. They do not have to actually go look for the parts.

5. If you are rude they will put the phone down. The same rule works everywhere.

At least the Hobby Company are importing the re-releases. They are a lot more available in the uK than in the uS and the distributor in Australia is still denying the existence of the rerelease Hornet, never mind the rest.

Remember the 3 speeds have been out of production for over 10 years. All multi speed gearboxes have been banned from racing in electrics for nearly 20 years so all electrics only use single speed. To say he was an idiot because he did not know what a 3 speed was is daft. If he wasn't involved in R/C back then how could he know. How many people here know what other manufacturers made back then? For example how many people know what was special about the TopCat, if you don't know does that classify you as an idiot?

terry,

I say an idiot because I told him its a tamiya item and yes this hobby shop has been around a long time and a man who has been in the hobby and has a hobby shop that long should know. So yes he is a idiot tamiya is probably the most known brand for RC in general. If you told me traxxas was alive in 1970 I wouldnt believe you. As for the last 3 speed being 10 years old now he should have also known it was a mountaineer considering he is a major supplier for tamiya, traxxas, and losi I would call him a idiot old man just some idiot, but idiot old man.

back on topic those are cool minitures.....[:D]

Yes, this is quite true. What he also needs to bear in mind is that like most trade distributors they can't take an order for anything until the price is firm. Even Tamiya's own japanese web site says the prices in yen are estimated at this stage - so until it's all firmed up, calculated into £s and so on they wouldn't know about it.

We're talking about 2006 releases here after all, as except for the far eastern sellers, shipping will push all 4 of these models into late January at the earliest.

My local hobbyshop has a bruiser a 959 and some other vintage cars as collectors items. Once the onwner told me the car was worth very much money and he got very high offers on it i didn't understand, it looked good but the chassis looked meccano ore something like that. After i discoverded TC i noticed it was an bruiser. And actually quite cool[:D] LOL I was the idiot then[:P]

I think its really cool there re releasing these cars. Im definatly not opposed to it. I loved my frog back in the day. Wish i still had it. With some aftermarket support of these releases maybe we could see some brushless powered frogs etc? Id love to see and old style car being competitive on the track.

Id like to see these cars re released

Monster Beetle

Blackfoot

Supershot

Falcon

Fox

I remember this guy having a tricked out fox at the race track back in the 80s. This thing was decked out with mods. He used to win every time. He beat RC10s with ease. Matter of fact he beat my RC10.

okay answer to your no1=yes the hobby company as only been going for a few years but someones else owned it before these who own it know and if someone works for the importer of tamiya i would expect them to know everthing on the tamiya rcs or at the mere lest of herd of them.

your no2= a monkey can answer and sell over the phone if they could talk and opperate computer if trained. and would you employ someone to do sales if they did'nt know about the current or past kits, esp at the mo as tamiya are re-releasing a lot of vintage kits.and if they wanted to they would'nt need the part no' they should have a search on the computer programmes to do this for you.

yourno3=i would not buy from them i only use my lhs i only phone them for info and they should keep up with the times. and how do you think we find out about re-releases,we go on the tamiya web site and look they should do the same it only takes a mo.

your no4= i agree with you

your no 5=i was'nt rude with them at all i will only be rude back to someone if they are rude or funny with me first.

they just didnt know what they where on about as i also found this out from my lhs on sat when i went in and asked them if they get the same from them and they said yes apart from one sales rep.

AND DONT BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE OTHERS uNTIL YOU KNOW THE FACTS.

Mr Forcein......I think you need to chill a bit. Terry has some good points, particularly in reference to the people working at the Tamiya agency. These people are employees, and could just as well be working for a company selling shoes. It is a job that pays the bills, and they are probably not paid enough to give a toss.

As Terry suggested, come live in Australia, where none of the re-re's make it to the shops locally. Though there are many other GOOD reasons for living here.

And please, DON'T TYPE IN CAPITALS, YOU WOULDN'T WANT ANYONE TO THINK YOU WERE RUDE........WOULD YOU.

i am very calm i dont take kindly to people jumping to THERE conclusions with out the true FACTS.

and if they(the tamiya employess that is) dont give a toss as you like to say then they dont deserve the job they are in. i am sure there is plenty of tamiya enthusiasts out there how would give there hind teeth to do a job like that. SO IN MY EYES YOUR POKING YOUR NOSE WHERE ITS NOT WANTED AS YOU EITHER DONT KNOW THE FACTS.and if i want to type certain words in capitals then i will. as you will have notice i did not type the whole post in capitals as i know not to do this allready.and thats your problem if you live in aus i did'nt ask you to do it did i. why do you think we have the internet and more so e-bay and so on. so people like you can buy from other countries.

I think we all need to just let this whole thing go! It's getting a bit out of hand and tempers are starting to flare. Topforcein is entitled to his opinion, just as everyone else is too. But when things start getting personal, it's time to let it go. It's just a hobby and it's supposed to be fun!

thats true big al just like the sand scorcher joke just because topforce is not a admin here or owner it still gives him rights to opinion like everyone else. I mean folks were personal on the SS re-release joke, but we let it go cause its all fun and games and opinions.

Indeed he is entitled to his opinion as Terry is to his and I to mine. I wasn't getting personal, just suggesting Topforcein should calm down a bit and instead I cop a gob-full.

If Topforcein doesn't like a difference of opinion then he shouldn't post on the topic.

Maybe if he really wanted a low-paying job at Tamiya as a phone jockey he should ring them up and go and get one instead of complaining about the people who work there, who are just doing their job and shouldn't have to cop this type of rubbish in the course of doing it:

"okay i just phoned up the hobby company and asked the sales if they had any info on theses 2 models and all i got was i have never herd of them 2 models. i said to her how can you work for tamiya and never herd of the manta ray and top-force. i just can not beleive that. then she got stroppy with me and put the phone down."

Quite frankly I think she did very well just to hang up on him without resorting to the same level or ridicule.

And BTW I am very happy about living in Australia, with the irritation of not being able to get the re-release kits localy being very minor. Certainly nothing worth ringing the distributor up to be a smart-*** about. I've got better things to do. Wasting time on this site for one, LOL.

So there are some facts!

Hey Drew,

I am all for opinion! I said that everyone is entitled to whatever opinion they may have about anything. I wasn't singling you or Terry out. I never said I agreed with Topforcein's opinion. In fact I disagree with it and would have done the same thing if I was on the other end of the phone. But I am not going to get on him about how he feels about the Hobby Company lady. I was just saying that we should just let the whole go because both you and Topforcein were starting to get hot. At least it seemed that way in the previous posts.
