Sand Scorcher Re issue Build

Recommended Posts

Back in 2010 i purchased one of the first Re issue Scorcher's and made a friend for life over in Germany who owns The Bug Box. He created a 1:1 version of the Original Sand Scorcher, an exact replica that can be driven. This now resides at Tamiya in there Museum.

Unfortunately due to hard times i had to sell mine and regretted it but that's life. So I decided last Weekend I'd buy another and after a few messages with my friend that owns Time Tunnel Models i now have another Scorcher

I will detail my build on here as i build my Scorcher

Box art for sure :)

you can't go wrong with box art, very iconic. I have a Re Re Sand Scorcher to build one day, but I am thinking of satin black, white and a metallic lime/green.

I see you also got a controller, does that mean we'll action videos when it's built?

Did you used to visit Time Tunnel Models when they had a shop in Stevenage?

I worked there for a few years! I still keep in touch with Neil.

Always wanted a Sand Scorcher myself but don't have the money / shelf space! Maybe one day...

Hi Chris , yes used to be in most Saturdays!! Stayed friends with Neil to this day .. He supplied this kit :)

They are expensive , but look at the components over the new generation kits.

I bet that was easier to paint than the 1/10 shell...

I've painted a few of these, and i dont think one of them has been without problems. Masking around the curves and getting the edges sharp is a ******.

Good luck with yours. Have you decided on a colour yet?

Shiny Shiny ..

Please don't tell me they are back to front? Tried them the other way and they wouldn't turn ...

I just check my Sand Scorcher, and apart from the aesthetics, I can't see that it would make any difference.

They are indeed back to front. It looks like you have put the wheel facings on the wrong sides. The middle part of the wheel has an offset that is further out on the inside. Take the outer covers off and swap them from side to side, you will find the wheel clears the suspension arms then.

A little update .. Shell Plastic Prime'd & 3 coats of Gloss White

I am building this up as a Shelf Queen due to the cost of it and breaking parts, i made a decision to buy another model to run around the park.

Well my partner bought it for me a Tamiya AQROSHOT DT03T Chassis

But i will continue slowly to put the Scorcher together ;)
