I have tore this one down ... I think this  buggy seen a lot of water .. many parts are rusted ... but the gearbox is in much better shape ...seems like maybe a smoker owned it chassis had yellowed .. I have this out in the sun now in Saran Wrap with hydrogen peroxide salon care product in the hopes of restoring grey colour ..

I can't believe the shape of some of these parts after cleaning up after like 37 years ... it's impressive ... it's nice to have the original manual .. memories ..

that chassis came back well. I wanted the Frog as a kid, but couldn't afford one. I've now got a couple to restore, so I'll be following your progress with interest and stealing a few ideas :D

The discolored chassis did clean up a bit .. was in the sun with the salon care solution from Sally's for about 6 hrs .. I'll soak it again and put it in sun again tomorrow ... see what happens ...

Did a sample spot on frog body I'm just using as runner  with lacquer thinner ...takes it off  but leaves it a bit foggy ...

I would definitely get a new body kit & MCI retro decals. I think the body kit of the rere is identical?

Looking good so far

The ReRe Frog Body kit is identical to the original except it doesn’t have the battery switch cutout in the rear window.

I also think they new body is more brittle, but that may be subjective...

Very nice, looking forward to see the chassis after another sunbath. I have one that is much worse than yours so hopefully I can  improve it a bit.

There's the chassis after the 2nd time in the sun for about 7hrs ... it's a bit blotchy you can see difference compared to battery door ...A81D5A65-629E-4B48-BEA6-75FDB7F90C86.thumb.jpeg.1fb4919934464fe4c5c6b31a6cdeaf11.jpeg

I was all giddy when I got the speed controller going but the steering servo doesn't work ... looks like it's not compatible with receiver .. ugh .. now I gotta source another Hitec one ... I might just get all Futaba .. just sucks because I have a hitec transmitter

Nice read 🙂, I’ve been re-building a few of these chassis over the past year and built a good few variations.  Getting the gearbox nice and tight is a knack but not difficult.
