Had only planned to disassemble the gearbox and put bearings in and a Torque Tuned motor with 20T steel pinion.

Got a bit carried away. Havent cut the body fully yet and those eagle eyed ones will notice the wheels??? Also the pumpkin roll bar is getting used. Will be white or Red with a mountain rescue theme. I need to get some plasticard as I may build a Truckman style hardtop for it. More to follow.......

The dampers on this are basically non existent. Is there a cheapish fluid damped alternative, or does it not need them???

Some form of damping certainly helps.

The stock friction dampers can be made to work to a degree by putting a really sticky AW-style grease in the rubber tubes through which the screw heads slide.

Mini CVAs are a good fit if going for proper oil-filled ones.

Or if looking for a cheaper option, even those generic Chinese alloy things can be made to work reasonably well with a disassembly, moulding flash removal, shaft polish and rebuild using Tamiya o-rings.

Finished the paintwork on the Amarok. The red is sprayed on the inside whilst the black is sprayed on the outside with a matt coat on top. I cut the overspray film to act as masking film. I think it worked really well. Those if you that know the bodyshel will notice that it is not completely trimmed. I am trying to keep as much of the flares as possible, so its run a bit, cut a bit. I'm also running Dynahead wheels and tyres which on grass are second only to useless but a bit smaller than the stock ones. Next up its the stickers, as well as the model ones I have a set of Mountain Rescue stickers that I might use. Also have some plasticard on order to make a Truckman top for it.

Have had to cut away a bit more body to clear the wheels. Still got quire alot more than the suggested line. Ive only trundled around the garden so will not kwow if I have to remove more untill it gets a proper run, whenever that may be. Have also done most of the Kit stickers that I'm going to use. Just one side window and windscreen surround to go. My orinal plan was to use a set of Mountain Rescue stickers along with a hard top made out of plasticard but I rather like the look of it in plain red. Needs a roll bar so I need to find one thats the right height/width ets. The Pumpkin one I have is too low. Probably need something like a Bruiser one? Also need to get some number plates, I def think they finish a model off but I dont want this to be German which the kit ones are. Have used a supplier on Ebay so will go back to him. So here are some pictures of the nearly finished truck.
