Bwaaatch 528 Posted April 1, 2020 Hey everyone, I have some pretty cheap batter packs for my growing fleet of comical buggies, but have discovered that: Some of them are a very tight fit (in diameter and length) and are getting stuck or torn when changed. Some people on the forum talk about batteries as though there are good brands and bad brands, and my Voltz brand doesn't get favourable mentions :-( So my question is, can anyone recommend a 'good' battery with: a standard Tamiya plug available in the UK that will be of the smaller diameter suitable for the WR-O2? Longest possible run time. Attaching pic of two of my Voltz packs, The lower capacity one fits fine. The 5300 is bigger in every dimension, though was unclear at purchase. As usual, awesome to be able to tap into your expertise!
TurnipJF 9192 Posted April 1, 2020 Of my various NiMH packs, the Overlander brand ones seem to be the hardiest. The Carson ones are also quite reasonable. Size is a function of capacity. I find 3000mAH to fit most chassis without issue.
waterbok 1282 Posted April 1, 2020 Vapextech 3300 mAh, fit all my older models, and have a great power delivery. Everything with more mAh are the bigger NiMh cells, OD and length increased.
toyolien 4681 Posted April 1, 2020 I bought some Overlander 3300's for mine. They fit great and are reasonably cheap.
Bwaaatch 528 Posted April 10, 2020 Thanks for the suggestions. Interesting that advertised dimensions on the Overlander are a little bore compact, and that both the Overlander and Vapextech suggest that the 3300 and 5000 may versions are identical in size. Vapextech 138mm x 47mm X 24.5mm https://www.vapextech.co.uk/batteries/radio-control/4-8v-7-2v/72v-5000mah-airsoft-battery-vapextech-tamiya/ https://www.vapextech.co.uk/batteries/radio-control/4-8v-7-2v/72v-3300mah-airsoft-battery-vapextech-tamiya-105/ Overlander 135mm x 46mm x 23mm https://www.overlander.co.uk/nimh-batteries/7-2v-6s/subc-5000mah-7-2v-premium-sport-nimh-battery.html https://www.overlander.co.uk/nimh-batteries/7-2v-6s/subc-3300mah-7-2v-premium-sport-nimh-battery.html Do you guys believe the sizing? Or think that's a copy/paste mistake? Cheers

Or think that's a copy/paste mistake? Cheers The sizing on the Overlander website is incorrect. I have both 3300 and 5000 packs and the 5000's are larger than the stated dimensions. I did get in touch with Overlander about it but they've obviously not updated their site. I don't have the measurements to hand at the moment, but the 5000's are a few mm (maybe 3 but don't quote me) longer than the 3300's. However the 5000's have fitted into everything I've tried them in. Including a Lunchbox, King Yellow, Boomerang, Super Hotshot and a I'm fairly sure I've had them in a Mad Bull and Wild Willy 2 as well. The only faults I've had are the silicone insulation on the battery lead splitting near to the cells on a couple of packs. I've also got a 5000 that seems to have died over the winter. But I currently have 2 more 5000's waiting for the post lady to deliver them.
