Hi all
I am looking for the best option to replace stock friction shocks on my LB.
I've seen 75 and 85 mm oil dampers on Modelsport.

Is it best to go

75 all round

85 all round

75f and 85r

Thinking of using 500CtS oil too.

Any advise greatly appreciated

Thank you

Rich

I just use Tamiya's 50520 CVA shocks. They're great for the Lunchbox.

The 50520s can do 80mm, 87mm, or 94mm.

The 50519s can do 55mm, 64mm, 67mm, or 70mm.

The Tamiya shocks come as pairs.

i can’t comment on those particular shocks you show. But in my experience, the Tamiya shocks work best

Thanks Terry.

I've ordered a pair of 50520 shocks for the rear. I'll leave the front stock for now and see how we go. I've also ordered an axle brace so should be all set now.

Cheers

Someone else will be able to comment on which piston head and oil to use with the LB. I run a Frog and Blackfoot so I can’t comment on the LB.

I bought vintage shocks and eBay bling shocks and they all sucked. In the end I went with Tamiya and they’ve been great.

If you ordered Tamiya CVA short shocks the instructions will tell you what length to build them at for the Lunchbox. I did the same thing with my Midnight Pumpkin(same Chassis, different body).

6 hours in and got this far.
She runs. The shock height on the front is way too high so it’s causing positive camber. When I get the CVA they really need to be around 77mm to sort out the camber issues.

Done. Love it. Is it worth buying the Ampro front and rear strut braces?

I personally wouldn't bother buying the front one it's easy enough to make your own one from some threaded rod and a couple of ball ends (see pics below). I'd say the ampro transmission brace is definitely worth the money however, I've got one fitted to the rear of my grasshopper 2 and it's excellent my lunchie has the 5th shock mod done because I built it before the ampro brace was on the market.
