Sorry it’s not a Tamiya but I picked this up for £30 and it was a tad filthy so I thought I’d strip it down and clean it all up.

https://www.conrad.nl/p/reely-carbon-fighter-ii-brushless-110-rc-auto-elektro-buggy-4wd-rtr-24-ghz-204100

its missing all electrics including the brushless motor it should have come with but I won’t be running it anyway.

Here it is as i picked it up

the plan is to strip it down and clean it all then just reassemble.

i have no instructions or spares so gonna see how it goes :)

interesting to see how the assembly compares to a tamiya.

Points to note once I collected it

1. the shell isn’t Carbon it’s just hydro dipped.

2. The chassis is a 2mm sheet of metal aluminium as is the “Spine” brace along the  drive shaft and is also just hydro dipped.

3. the roll bar frame is all aluminium.

Started off by taking all the parts off the deck

Roll bars

servo mounts

battery holder

“Gear box” cover

ooHP5S2.jpg

which revels an interesting set up

PysO1AJ.jpg

which I assume is a single geared slipper clutch

This left me with just the front and rear sets and the Rx case (which is stuck on)

Then I was able to remove the Front and rear diff and suspension sets

And this gave me a lovely made drive shaft

Stripping down the diff sets was easy too

few screws and it’s all apart

then all reassembled once it’s been in the ultrasonic cleaner

then finally all the bigger parts went into the sink for a good clean

A little bit of reassembly

Rear suspension lower arms just attach with 2 screws each side Through the metal plate chassis

VgZW9VB.jpg

the the rear diff and top mounting points just then attach with another 2 screws each side and that’s it

o2gvAx4.jpg

Things like the rear spoiler mount and the rear bumper is mounted to the rear diff (which is tiny) and the same at the front. Not much is actually mounted to the chassis

Then reassembled the front end in the same Way

Finished off this interesting build today (even did some of it in the sun)

Added all the remaining pieces to the deck

servo holders

BXTBKYj.jpg

Before putting the spine deck back on, I was looking at the steering set up and it just looks unfinished and the spring for the servo saver fouls on the top deck making the steering v tight

vNJyX7m.jpg

ao I found some rubber tubing in my box of bits and a damper internal to act as a washer

Then the top spine deck could be fitted which, along with the roll frame, holds the steering system in place

then fitted the battery holder which again is just a few screws through the main deck

Then I thought I may as well try and fit a motor sewing as I have 5 or 6 silver cans laying around

Ut3Jf7Y.jpg

I can’t say it’s a good way of mounting the motor but it’s defo simple

Can see everything working through the little window

I assume it’s because you can access both motor screws through the gearbox (or tighten it when it invariably will come loose)

Bodywork next - mostly it’s fine but the carbon wrap was worn in places - especially the wing

H2CrwgQ.jpg

so I grabbed a black sharpie and mixed up some dark silver paint and tried my hand at diy carbon weave

turned out ok ish (nice from afar but far from nice)

ZB6n0cs.jpg

the underside is just black and was peeling so just painted black

3uFV9nr.jpg

and the main deck has heavy wear in just 1 place (potentially where the brushless motor got the metal deck hot and wore quicker) or just the fact that it’s a long deck plate that flexes

so gave it a paint with the grey and dappled some black sharpie on it

OZGZHJr.jpg

i won’t show the end result as it’s a tad gash ;)

when disassembling, trying to get the wheels off was a nightmare - they are soooooo tight in the stub axles! So I drilled them out a little extra

Finally just put it all back together and it was done ;)

I have one of these, they are sold by Conrad. Just search for the carbon fighter Evo, which is the follow-up model. Technically the same, just a slightly different body shell.
I have a spare parts list and a exploded view manual for that, found them on the internet. They are too big to include here.
