Hello everyone, I've been out of the loop for years, finally got my thunder dragon running after it was given to me broke 15/20 years ago, I have a very dumb question...

Has any of the thunder shot family been rere'd yet? I know the terra scorcher is due this month but I was just curious if my thunder dragon is completely original?

The Thundershot, Fire Dragon and now Terra Scorcher have all been rere'd. The Thunder Dragon is the only one not to see a rerelease yet.

Thundershot rere 2005

Fire dragon rere 2008

Ah the man himself who actually sold me the parts to get my thunder dragon running! Thanks again! I'm guessing the parts came from a rere, not sure why I'm curious mind 😂

Yes they did, apart from the wheel hubs and the blue arms, stickers and esc, it's basically the same car (rere has plain silver screws). Which means it's great to have newer plastic parts that are indistinguishable from the original

Another fan of the series as the Thunder Shot was my first Tamiya kit (had a 2nd hand boomerang for a few months first)

I did a full restore on it and then trashed it first time out (put in modern power & motor which made it insane and proceeded to wreck it, so fixed it and shelved it, started collecting them at this point)

I'm too scared to drive it so I may sell it to someone who'd appreciate it more than me and buy something on the DT-03 chassis.

I do love how it drives tbh but after waiting 15/20 years to see it run I'd rather buy something cheaper / easier to replace or just run my mad bull when the kids run theirs.

Parts are still super easy to come by, and the Terra Scorcher is about to be rereleased so spares will be ev3n more plentiful. I have a Thunder Dragon that even sees track time occasionally. I have never struggled to find parts, they have always been reasonably priced, and it really doesn't break that often anyway. They are tough buggies. Run it! Or buy a Terra Scorcher rere to run.

ALL of this, and with the Terra Scorcher coming out you'll have like 5 years of super easy to find parts. Stock up and have fun!

I just finished my Terra Scorcher build, need to update that thread!!! This chassis family is ALOT of fun, very robust, and other than the A5 nearly bomb proof.  Only real spare you need is the A5, or just get the alloy version and call it a day.
