Finny99 64 Posted April 14, 2020 Grabbed this local classified ad .. Afyer checking it out looks like a grasshopper gearbox ... I thought in the ad pic rims were painted but look like they're from another buggy ... sandblaster tires one of the body mounts are snapped shocks on one side don't seem to be working the best .. whole back end is rickity Im thinking I might go grasshopper on this one
Finny99 64 Posted April 15, 2020 Looking at hornet manual maybe is hornet gearbox .. not sure Maybe just keep it a hornet .. lol shocks are coming up nice ... too much on the go .. this Tamiya stuff gets addictive ...
mongoose1983 3335 Posted April 15, 2020 That's a nice find. I particularly like the Futaba radio. I have the European Robbe version of it, but you know how it is, you just want to have them all, haha. Anyway, regarding your car, you can get a Grasshopper body for that, but to get the GH over it you'll need to modify a little the body, as the rear shock towers touch the inner sides of the GH body. You can do it easily, though. One nice little piece you might want to consider if you're going to run the buggy is getting the AMPro Hornet axle bracket. It's a tiny piece that will make your car run better than good! Cheers
Finny99 64 Posted April 15, 2020 Thanks .. I probably won't run it just sit on shelf.. Think going hornet with it is better idea .. Just need D part and tires .. body down the road Grasshopper is on the list .. had one as a kid Stripped .. gearbox is pretty good .. not too greasy .. Have to get rid of black rubber mat .. could not find spring for shock for a while even using flashlight
Toolmaker72 507 Posted April 16, 2020 Made the little anti tramp bracket for a grasshopper 2 chassis. Rear axle is the same as the original grasshopper/hornet. Pictures below showing it fitted.

Toolmaker72 507 Posted April 17, 2020 My grasshopper with hornet chassis. Still needs a speed control, so haven’t run it as yet. Looks good with spiked rear tyres 🙂

mongoose1983 3335 Posted June 30, 2020 I love the simplicity of the Grasshopper. It's not as complex as any member of the Shot family, but it sure beats all of 'em in the looks department! Good job.

Had some trouble getting a good range on them, so i set them aside for now, and bought a cheap 2.4Ghz radio. Unfortunately i am really missing the stick-grip. I have had some small accidents getting my head around learning the new pistol grip Maybe with some help i'll be able to restore and revive the old radio's. I do have several receivers and very nice servo's to go with those.

H22A4 85 Posted August 13, 2020 Like most entry level R/C cars, that one has been driven hard and put away wet many times early in its life.
