There are a heap of options depending on budget.

Tekin, Orion, Hobbywing, Orca, Muchmore, Maclan etc all make really good stuff.  If its 17.5T blinky you are wanting then look at their stock spec ESC (eg Muchmore Euro V2, Maclan Pico, Hobbywing XR10 stock) as they are specifically designed for this class.  They have all the usual programming options but not the turbo and boost functions.  These are all around US200 for the top models (160amp, full programming) to US120 for the stock spec models.  They also make cheaper options too, like the Hobbywing Justock for about US60 which is another stock spec ESC.

SkyRC are a decent mid-range option.  I think their reliability probably isn't as good as those above (its my assumption they are cheaper by using cheaper components and will fail sooner, but I haven't had an ESC last more than 2 years in an offroad dirt buggy anyway, they take a hammering from racing), but they perform well and are much cheaper.  I run these in my race buggies, the TS160, TS120 and my son has the TS50.  I'm not sure I'll get another TS50, it seems to struggle in a 4wd buggy a bit and gets hot compared to the TS120.  Hobbywing have some equivalent options in this range too but I don't know which ones.

There are also heaps of options for motors.  I run the Surpass Rocket V4S which is a good bang for buck option that doesn't give anything away on the track.  SkyRC Ares is another option like this.  Then you have all the top brands who are making the fastest motor of the month.  Personally from this range I would look at Fantom, R1 Wurks and Trinity who all seem to be at the front of the field if you have the budget.

Otherwise you can just pick up some cheap no brand and they all work fine too.  I wouldn't expect them to last long racing, and they will be as fast as the motors from a couple of generations ago which is fine for bashing but won't be up to racing.  Unless its mod then it doesn't really matter, mod is so overpowered anyway being a bit less overpowered won't make much difference.

I’m just using bargain basement GoolRC brushless combos for £30

I have hobbywing too (never could afford castle) and my neo with the goolRC spanks it down the road with 3S LiPo
