Sand Scorcher - has anybody done this before?

I just got my old sand scorcher down from the loft and started stripping it down. Once I'd taken off the radio box off I noticed just how flimsy the fibreglass chassis plate was and it got me thinking about making a new plate out of alloy.

Has this been done before?

Neil g40 there`s a chap on here who did a run of alluminium chassis`s his name is TWINSET he may have some left and you`ll find he`s a top bloke aswell.
