well as you know Sir SupraChrgd82, soon as certain things get done i'll be on it for certain.

it took some time to acquire so as i've been building other vehicles it happened to arrive in a traffic jam, thus this will have to wait its turn for the next exit.

I do say being this is the Fourth of the Four Horsemen i'd be all over this but i need to finish something that's been long awaited and extremely over do.

If and when Tamiya does come out with another Pan then i will gladly like to build one of theirs for sure.

Kyosho America: Update Tracking #33314

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your interest in Kyosho products. The Fantom will arrive at the end of this month. The Le Mans motor 37033 480T 21.5 motor should arrive in our market in the next 30 days or so we don't have the part number added to our system yet. I listed the information below from the Kyosho Japan web-site. Check back with us at a later date.

https://rc.kyosho.com/en/37033.html (so about  $112.23,  i'm assuming less at RCMart when they arrive.)

Thank you,
Sincerely,
Kyosho America

Well that makes it nice

Can someone explain the appeal of these? Genuine question I’m not being facetious!

My local hobby shop owner is getting all excited for them to arrive, but to me a chain drive seems awfully...inefficient for a lightweight rc car when belts are adequate? More friction, tons more rotating mass, surely more noise and heat build-up could be an issue?

Is this a nostalgic thing because it was an early 4wd pan car? Seems mad because I’m sure there were many 4wd RC cars prior to ‘87... but what do I know, I hadn’t even been born back then!!

I was racing back then.
 I knew loads of racers.
None of them had or wanted one.
I don’t get the appeal of this one.
 At all.
But I’m happy for those that did want it to come back.

I don't have a good place to run one, otherwise I'd buy a kit.   I like the chassis, though I've never been a fan of the body styling (not just this car - any of the on-road cars really).

I love Kyosho vintage 4WD chain drive cars.  The rocky is great and so is the Optima.  Even the re-release Optima gives you a choice between belt and chain because both are supplied in the kit.

I can't wait to see what Kyosho releases next in the Legendary Series.

It was different to the the three other Horsemen i was building at the time when i came across the Fantom for Pre-Order, so why not? why build any of these Lil' magnificent vehicles?

because we can that's why, you play with yours and i build as many as i can, Why? and being facetious with a big hart behind it, you get to acquire all the cool tools to assemble them with.

seriously i mean with all that's on here, why build a Tamiya Comical or that dancing rider thing? or a Submarine? because they're different and fun, not the brutal buggy or the $2K+ crawler and all its accessories that surpass Barbie herself,  but a vacation from the norm.

if it interests me and keeps me in this hobby, and the all out fun for that's why i'll build.

every one here can attest to the very fact we all try to be a little bit different on our themes(unless it's Box Art) even though they are the same kit and or brand, it's why i  come here to The Greatest Forum on the Planet The Tamiya CLub!  well for me anyway:D

ps let's build the ultimate Tesla RC Truck........................................................................NOT!Now that's where i'll draw a line, stupidest looking thing i've ever seen.

It's a niche group of pan car racers with kyosho roots.  Many fans in that era remember when kyosho started winning national races with a new design like the FRP chassis back in the day.  It was a game changer in 1/12 - 1/8 racing back in the 80s.  Like the Optima and Ultima, the Fantom was champion as well and there are fans that would by this.  I raced  1/12 carpet before and it's easily one of the most difficult types of racing for me.

Never mind a pan car which you can't get parts for (and inevitably your going to need parts when you smack it of the nearest curb looking at the speed it goes) we need a optima mid re-release! Don't care which one we just need one!!!
