Hi All

Simple question please if I may.

380 Sports tuned

540 Torque tuned

Or

Absima motor

What's best For the grasshopper. Would love your views.

Thanks in advance all. Stay Safe. 😊👍

I guess the question is what do you want out of the car. The Grasshopper is primitive at best so speed needs to be accompanied by open spaces.

What ESC are you running? That will dictate the maximum motor you can run.

For me the Grasshopper and Hornet are best run with a silvercan so a stock 540 or a torque tuned are great.

Some have pushed this chassis to greater limits but I think the fun goes when you push it to far.

Hi. I have the hornet with a sports tuned and it flies and handles well. My son has the grasshopper and  I tried the sports tuned and was too quick for the grasshopper. I have put the 540 silver can into the grasshopper and it goes fast. The esc is the one that came with the kit. It's mainly used on tarmac and the back garden (short grass).

We also found a place where a farmer has a field and is dry flat mud so very  dusty which is great fun.

I was thinking the 380 sports tuned.

Thanks for the reply

You'll find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to fit a different 380-size motor than the one that comes in the kit. The pinion is pressed onto the shaft, and it needs that plastic adapter plate. The gearbox is really designed for a 540-size motor, and they adapted the 380 to it to create the entry-level Grasshopper. But a standard 540-size motor (ie, nearly every aftermarket RC motor) and a standard 18-tooth 32-pitch pinion is what it's really designed for.

If you're used to the kit-supplied 380 motor, a Torque Tuned 540 will make it feel like a rocket. Just do that, and don't bother trying to mess around with a different 380.

Looks like you have the perfect environment to run this type of car.

A torque tuned will give you somewhere in the middle of the stock and the sport.

If you are using the stock ESC then a cheap sensored brushed motor from eBay might be better. 13.5t will give extra over a silvercan and longer runtimes.
