It's obvious that most of us collect the cars/buggies/trucks, but what about vintage remotes, chargers, batteries, and other things??

Does anyone else display these items with their cars?

Everything thats connected to r/c and for me especially Tamiya is fair game. I have collected the 1/12 team sets even though they not are needed for the cars. But they look so nice and are ment to be used with the old 1/12 cars in "Shelf mode" so to speak.

Tires in boxes are great to. I only have one pair of boxed 934 tires and a pair of original XR311 without box, but they are a part of Tamiya history that i like to own.

I also have a pair of old huppacks and one box for them, and some old chargers.

All that stuff look good on the shelf.

A bit an other line of sport but I collect also vintage Faller AMS slotcars. Faller AMS was basicly a (slot) car system intended for addition of cars to a H0 type railwaysystem like Märklin or Fleischmann. The scale wasn't that good (1:66 instead of H0 1:87) but it was technical superior. It was started in 1964 en ended in the late 70's, yes indeed almost the same time Tamiya started RC! If anyone is intrested there is a small picture in my showroom ( http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...=36110&sid=8757). Some good NIB early Faller cars will be as expensive as a Shelf queen restored SRB!

I also have a small toy collection. Nearly all modern toys with a few old school items in there. They range from toys for kids to "adult" vinyl. I collect individual toys rather than assortments or series. Bassically anything that catches my eye.

James aka Toykid, get it??[:D]

i know it basically the same but i love lots of different bodies, i have got about 8 for my tt01 chassis, i joy painting them the masking and the various designs you can do, then the best bit is when your peeling the window masks off and you see what you have created, you posssibly say i'm addicted ;-)

I collect bills at the moment for the TVR.

Thats the problem with buying one that has been stood for a year and not used.

I also "own" dads collection of Zippo's as its too painful for him to look at them now he has lung cancer [V]

Good topic ! I recently acquired a "vintage" (well not too old) radio and some discontinued motoors to match. This could be a new calling for me [;)], take a look:

Rare NIB Speedos, batteries, and receivers too. ( Special thanks to Shodog Jim for the Dialed speedo gift )

Do you have that big red Lego car chassis ? I remember REALLY wanting one of those many years ago, I bet they have em on eBay but I ain't even going to look, for obvious reasons, ie, if I search... I find and if I find... I buy, I just can't help it.

I got the better, earlier BIG car, no. 8860

I think the one you want is 8865, go on do a search for it, I can tell you right now there is more than one on there..... in many ways some of the larger cars are similar for me to Tamiya, and did lead me into RC.

I still love Lego for the presentation, the originality and the imagination.

I figured I would keep some in boxes, maybe my Daughter will like em one day, if not more toys for me !! yipppeeee

Yes I just did a search, found it, the one I was talking about was 853, I'm pretty sure that came before the other big car chassis, didn't it ?

The one I just saw on eBay ended at £101, so I guess these are collectable now.

I won't go down that road or it'll be the whole "Tamiya thing" over again ;)

yeah, you're right 853 was the original, but like with Tamiya where the Sand Scorcher was the one for me over the Rough Rider, the 8860 was my fave over the 853.

Anyway, I think we've hi-jacked this thread long enough.

who is next?

I guess i'll go next Stu...

I'm into all things that are Tamiya RC car related but imparticular any official Tamiya literature or anything that contains any references to Tamiya. Tamiya catalogues, RC guide books, Tamiya promotional posters are my favourites. I've also got loads of old 'Radio race car' and 'Model cars' magazines - I can read those old mags for hours on end.

My other interest is Smurf collecting (yes another thing that was big in the 80's). My wife and I do this together - so far we have in excess of 300 of the little blue guys.

Also had a Lego collection many years ago but ironically I chose to sell it all to fund my RC addiction[:(].

They made a remote controlled car, I remember it quite well as a mate of mine had it. Expensive piece of kit too. They also had some kits that had parts operated by a small air pump.

My girlfriend has a mad Simpsons collection, it could literally fill a house! [:0] Mt R/C's are minimal compared to what she has [;)]

Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing models and toys. I have far more of them than my RC cars (and I have far more of those than are in my showroom).

Also Schuco Piccolo. But only the Mercedes racers (silver arrows), Gullwing, yearsets and sets containing the aforementioned cars. I really should post some pics in my TCphotos showroom.

These have gone on the backburner over the last year or so as I stock up on RC stuff.

Lego Technics featured air pumps, and go way back to the 80s.

But the RC Lego cars aren't Technics, specifically. I think they're called 'Lego RC Racers'. I have the first one they released, and it came with instructions and parts for building two kinds of car - an off road buggy or an F1 style open wheeler. Each looks very 'chassis-like' when completed, and they don't have polycarbonate bodies or anything. It's all lego.

A quirk of the kit is that they're designed to use two little motors - one for each rear wheel.

As with all Lego stuff, the quality of materials is excellent. They may be toys, but they're a pleasure to muck around with. [:)]

cheers,

H.

id="quote">id="quote">I like to fit the correct radio gear and motors/batterys etc to my shelfers and some of my runners. The running gear I think is just as nostalgic to use and maintain as the cars/buggies and I think its completes my own personal "trip back in time" as such, but that is just me others may prefer the modern more efficiant running gear. All to there own I suppose

P.s I'am watchin an MB big track on ebay at the moment [:P] think I may bid on it and if I win it will be going in my showroom [;)]
