The Blackhopper

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just finished a Grasshopper. The car also showed up in another thread about antenne length but now I made some better photos. Goal was to give a bit more of a tough look, so I used Wild One wheels and tires and painted the body black. I’m still having doubts about whitening the letters on the tires.

The Blackhopper is running a Sports Tuned(of course I had to choose a black can 🙂), ball bearings an a steel pinion.

It’s not a very detailed car that that takes a lot of skill (that I don’t have) but I like the look!

That looks very good! I always think that a simple design scheme executed well looks better than a complex one executed poorly, and while simple, you've done a great job of this one!

Thanks! If you get the wheels, make sure you get the right adaptors. The Wild One adaptors don't fit so I had to buy a Grasshopper II C parts tree.

Oh and just to be sure: the front tires are Hotshot, not Wild One. The latter has ribbed front tires!

Black grasshoppers do look good, I did one with black wheels also.
Are you fitting the driver figure or applying the sticker/decals? 🙂

I’m not the first owner and when I got this car (for a good price) the decals were not included and the body was customized. The driver was included, but Frank will not be driving The Blackhopper!

Some additional pictures with tire lettering ;)  The pictures are old, the car doesn't look shiny anymore...

Are they Hotshot, Boomer tyres on the front? As the Wild One fronts are ribbed.

Looks great, less is sometimes more 👍🏻

There's just so much right about this..  simple yet seems like it was supposed to be this way.  If the op doesn't mind.. I'm going to "borrow" this idea and do a shelf grasshopper with the green shiny chrome body and perhaps some fox wheels w/ Hotshot tires

I like it. The white lettering on the wheels was a good choice.

Maybe an AC/DC logo somewhere :)
