If you had a new in box vintage tamiya kit, would you build it or store it?I've always found the fun in actually building the kit but would it be a shame to do so?

hi guys,

What cars would you keep in the box,the early ones ie porsche 959.Do you think tamiya would re-release it?

I personally wouldn't buy anything to keep in the box,it's just not my interest.

Some members here do collect boxed kits and I've absolutely nothing against them, it's just two different aspects of the same interest (toy cars [;)]).

I did own a Rough Rider NIB for a while, and was really tempted to rip it open and build it on more than one occasion, but couldn't bring myself to do it.

For me, the pleasure is also in building kits, on more than one occasion I've actually bought something just to build [:I]

I think you'd have to take each kit as it happens, you'll know if you MUST build it or not [:D]

If all else fails, BUY 2 [8D]

For me never seen the point of having a box of bits,so I think build build build, unless you have two NIB of the same kit then you could build one keep one.

this has been a long standing debate.....

both view points are equally valid.

My best advice would be to do what makes YOU happy.

Best of both worlds, do what I do, build them, then put them basck in the box, then you have a New Built in the Box ;)

But really its what makes you happy that is what you do.

I get more enjoyment out of building them then running them these days anyway so 95% of my collection will just be new built - even if crappily painted - ;)

I agree with Twinset and Rotor, I get more enjoyment out of building the kit than actually running it. I'm all for building opposed to storing. The kits I do have in the box are all on the schedule to be built. There is ONE kit I have that I can't bring myself to take the shrinkwrap off though. My Losi Junior T has survived so long untouched. I just wouldn't feel right putting it together. Now I'm on the lookout for a new built or a runner so I can re-live running an early stadium truck again.

The appeal of boxed kits for me is that feeling when you admire the bits in the box - you get that great feeling of anticipation thinking how fun it would be to build it.

I imagine though that I'll build most of my NIB kits eventually. That Dyna Storm is looking mighty appealing...
