What glue do you use?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what glue do you peeps use for Tamiya R/Cs?

I need to glue the light fittings into my Globeliner and glue the windscreen wipers on my King Hauler (As one fell off last time and I lost it)

I use liquid polystyrene cement. It welds the parts together, but it must be plastic-to-plastic, so primer, paint, grease or any other contaminant in the joint will prevent it from working properly.

The advantage of liquid is the capillary action. The disadvantage is the capillary action. It will run between your fingers and the surface if you aren't careful.

For light lenses I use canopy glue. It sets clear.

I use hot glue, 2 part epoxy resin, Tamiya plastic cement & cyanoacrylate depending on the requirements.

UV cured glue & melted sprue are other types I’d like to try some day.

UV setting glue is good. Seems to stick lean well. PVA if good for clear things like light lens etc. It dies clear. Also don’t dismiss good old UHU type glues . Used correctly as contact adhesives they can be very effective if a bit smelly 👃

i have used bison glue on both my trucks esp for the visors and wipers

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bison-Liquid-Rubber-Repair-Adhesive-Glue-50ml-Paste-Tube-Clear-Waterproof/113919272528?epid=1458182991&hash=item1a861e2650:g:1hkAAOSwRBFdnuv8

or i have just seen this which i spose would work as good

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-25ml-Bison-Model-Plastic-Adhesive-Art-Craft-Hobby-Glue-Solid-Waterproof-New/271904155855?epid=1117280735&hash=item3f4ec028cf:g:7v4AAOSw~ZdVgKFa

i def would not use anything that creates heat as this will ruin the paint and poss melt the shell

“Canopy Lock” glue is good for transparent parts. It’s called that because it’s what folks use on rc airplanes to secure transparent canopy glass. It’s thick like PVA but dries completely clear.
