Hi,

With all of the spare time on my hands at the moment... I have dusted off my wild dagger after 19 years, it is still stock build and have ordered the following:

New Battery & Charger, Quicrun 880 dual ESC, New Bearings..

I am struggling to find any posts with regard to Shock upgrade and recommendations... any post I find are quite old and I can not find the referenced parts online..  Would anyone please recommend a basic upgrade to oil shock from stock ?  I am planing to make my own shock towers from Alu.

I am also struggling with the steering control... keeps getting misaligned each time it hits a wall..  I think the servo may be broken so could also do with recommendation on which one to purchase please..  I might also get a servo mount which I have heard helps the situation..

Thank you..

MaxPhull

Hello and welcome back to the fold

Shock towers like this work well https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333440254685 with 85-95mm shocks.

I run lots of sag so it recovers from jumps well and corners without flipping.

I sound like your servo is toast but it is still better not to hit walls. The steering is not precision so I have not found up grading to metal mounts makes a huge difference.

I have found these servos ok for the money. Total overkill but that is better than weak

Kimbrough

Not one I have heard of but I will look them up. I hate the way that with these you need a high torque kit and then an alloy add on from Tamiya. Works out expensive so I will look in to Kimbrough

In your second photo, the rearward servo mount doesn't appear to be attached to anything.  Without it connected, the servo will pivot around the screw on the front mount and your steering will be vague and forever getting out of alignment.  Check that first.

Also the stock servo saver is weak, the spring is just a plastic circle.  It can be prone to sticking if the screw is too tight.  You can increase spring tension by putting a ziptie around the spring, although a Kimbro is a better option if you don't mind spending some extra cash.

Thanks for the advice everyone @Nobbi1977, @ThunderDragonCy, @Mad Ax

Just ordered Kimbrough KP-121 servo saver,  Power HD LF-20 Servo,  Gmade Zero Shocks 94mm.

Ordered some 4mm Aluminium to make the Shock towers myself.

@Mad Ax The servo has been removed in the pic.

Will wait for all the parts to turn up and let you know how I get on...

Thanks..

Did you make the white box to protect the mechanical speed control?

That was cleverly done.

Yes,  Just a bit of trunking and super glue..  did the job.     Got new ESC now so not required.

Re-build still in progress and all my parts have arrived.   Just mounted my home made shock towers and assembled my shocks.

What ESC is that?. Looks similar to the old Hobbywing EZRUN.

The wild dagger takes 2.2 tyres, that should help your steering as well as some wheelies with that motor.
