Looking for advice on masking off the Lunchbox body to replicate this paint job.

My plan is to paint the front half blue, and the back white - what's the best way to get good symmetry on the angled edge?    My plan is to use decals for the colored stripes, so the base coats of the van will be blue and white.   My concern is getting the same angle on each side of the van where I run the tape.   I plan on using painters tape to run the line, and then using the bag the body came in to mask off each half as I paint it.

I'm priming the entire body first.

Any benefit to spraying the whole body white, then doing the blue half on top of the white? or just shooting them seperately as single layers?

Thanks,

Chris

First off I would suggest, if you don't already have it, Tamiya brand masking tape.

It would be best to paint the lighter color first as you planned. I would paint the entire body white.

As far as making it symmetric, I would make sure the line across the roof was perfectly square and then pull the angles down to the same point on each wheel arch.

That paint scheme looks bad@$$!!!

SLLLLIGHT change of plans.

I'm going to spray the nose french blue (sand scorcher blue) and the rear 2/3 ts-22 (bright green) to match the haro master theme from the 80s.  I think I can spray either color first, i'm probably going to spray the nose first then the rear.   I'm going to "bag" the rear end so there's no overspray.

Grab a fine point Sharpie.  Use Sharpie because it washes off with alcohol.

Mark a reference point on the left rear and right rear corner of the body.  Measure and mark where each stripe intersects the drip rail from that reference point.

Lay your masking material like this guy does starting at 1:30.  1 hand aims the tape, the other hand adheres it in a fluid motion.
