When are Tamiya going to get their terminology right. Just reading through the construction manual for my new Sheridan and I kept seeing the term bearings so got very excited and started searching through the box. Guess what I found??? Yes you guessed it bushings, even flanged ones.

Now I’m not really bothered about the suspension in fact I think bushings will be ok and won’t rust but I think they would have been advantageous in the gear boxes and idler wheels. Having just spent £800 on a kit you would think they could put real bearings in. Anyhow have sent an email to Colin at RC bearings to see what he can come up with?

I suppose, I just always called them bushings rather than bearings. I suppose it’s our terminology that may be at fault as we constantly go on about installing bearings in our cars when we should be talking about ballracing our cars?

I always considered 'ballrace' to be a noun, that is, the part of a ball bearing that the balls roll on. Using ballrace as a verb, e.g., to ballrace or ballracing, just sounds wrong to me.

Yes bushings are just a type of bearing, i.e., a device for bearing a load - plain bearings as opposed to ball, or any other kind.
