We have considered the v2 lost in the post - stolen by industrial espionage spies from china ;)

i will fit today and have 2 x nimh to get through.

initial results later

test #1 results are in

way better than the original

defo still better than the original set

so results (and bare in mind I’m running a speed passion brushless and glued tyres on tarmac that can cause the beetle to wheelie)

Well......absolute minimal clicking

i drove the car as hard as I could to try and create issues and I was unable to create anything but a single click every now and then when really pushing hard and even then I was unsure if I heard anything and I can’t pick it up on the video.

I have a v2 which is slightly tighter which I will now try but I know this set can lock out the diff of tightened too much.

v3 May be between the 2

let me know what you think.

oh and it’s only blue because Pete has blue and its a great prototype colour

Ok so I’ve studied the vid a few more times

the noise I thought I was hearing is the unloaded front wheel becoming loaded again and making a tap noise.

this is the single click I convinced myself was the gearbox

study for yourselves though and comment

When you have run the other 2 prototypes we might be able to compare results . To be fair the MB took some punishment and survived so it's looking good

Seems legit, I only ran a stock can back in the 80s and it took a couple of months to start clicking - and I will only be running brushed sport tuned motors on the new one, so it should be groovy. Let me know when you get it finalized, and will be happy to order 2 of them for my 2 beetles waiting to be built- have a great weekend!

Just for some context, I’ve been running this beetle for over 5 years

still on same diff

spent a few years clicking then I got the standard plates

ran for a few more years and still some clicking - especially when upgrading to brushless.

now back to zero clicking

will do a grass run when it stops raining

then will potentially investigate an additional 0.1mm and 0.2mm of additional pressure.

Keep the feedback coming

I'm just about to dip my toe into brushless - not sure which model to install it into yet

Well when the brushless can wheelie the beetle then that’s some strain through the gearbox ;)

Go cheap to start

goolRC full combo (ESC and brushless)

Then you can decide if you want to go for LiPo or just stick with a nice nimh

then you can upgrade again if you want

That's exactly what I have got :-

GoolRC F540 4370KV Motor Waterproof 45A Brushless ESC

I have fired it up - just need to fit it into a runner

Ah - that’s the 380 style though

will be superb but you can go for the 3650 model for a bit more oompf

It’s the smaller motor (380) in a 540 casing - hence the fins :)

it’s still a really good motor

Ah , hence the cheapeness . Oh well I'll try it out and go from there - I don't expect the thunder of your B/L
