Allegedly shops can reopen, for those of us in the UK anyway. So wheres your first port of call modelwise? Anyone else who can`t wait to get out and properly browse for paint and bits and pieces? Personally I think i`ll try and hang on for a week or two to let the initial bedlam die down, then have a wander out to modelsport to get stocked up

My RC spending will be staying in lockdown. That’s the day that Mrs BC is being made redundant (and possibly offered the opportunity to apply for the same role for less pay and longer hours).

That's rough and I'm sorry to hear that. I've been off for a while and am only being called back for 3 weeks to cover a guy who is out because his wife has the virus. Then I'm back to trying to find a job in a dying trade while my meager savings vanish.

Life is tough right now . I'm confident it will work out for all of us on here and everywhere out there - we have the spirit to carry on ,  it may take a while but things improve

One thing I learned from my father is that there is always something better on the way. Just watch for it

Thanks @Wetman, @kevtherev and @XJman. TBH, this is a storm we can weather, there are far worse off folk than us.

You are right, @kevtherev, they can’t advertise / recruit for the same role but...

Anyhoo, enough of that, TC is here as a brilliant escape / distraction / whatever you want it to be.

Keep up the good work, people!

I've been reduced to 80% of my salary, so my spending will be at a minimum. Had a big splurge on the credit card at the beginning of the lockdown so I've got that to pay for!

i'll be staying in, apart from a possible trip to euro car parts for paint.

When I look on there now all the paint says "this item is no longer available". Have they done that because it's a non-essential item or because they're no longer stocking it? I know you couldn't get delivery any more.

Hopefully it’s because it’s a non essential item

How is the UK handling the virus? We in USA have been hit really hard. Particularly in my state. Work is closed and gov is a joke. Lots of good people out of work, lots of small buis shut down and not going to reopen including mine, just curious whats going on across the pond.

On the whole, my personal opinion is I dont think too badly - obviously in hind sight things can always be improved on or done differently. Its easy for the press and other politicians to criticize the decisions being made at the time but considering whats going on its not as if there is any precedent to follow on what are right or wrong ways to be doing things (and considering we dont have a paramilitary policeforce or live under a communist dictatorship to enforce the rules, aside from a few numpties breaking the them I think most people are doing what they should be) In terms of numbers of deaths etc we are the highest in Europe but then I would guess that is mostly down to population density - excluding Scotland and Wales, England for instance has one of the highest population densities in Europe (more than twice that of Italy and three times the density of Spain) If a disease spreads by proximity of personal contact then I cant see how the two would not corellate.

We are still in lock down although as noted above shops and retail outlets look to be reopening soon next month but nothing has been mentioned about pubs / restaurants / hotels etc. The furlough scheme was introduced fairly quickly which allowed businesses to shut but keep their employees still employed and the government will pay upto 80% of the salary (and upto a fixed amount each month) and some companies are topping up the remaining 20% if they can afford it.

The long term economic impact is now the worrying aspect - the UKs GDP is the service industry and thats what has been shut. Its not as if we have a big agriculturual or manufacturing sector to fall back on that can prop it up.

Usa argriculture is gov subsidised, we dont produce much anymore as far as manufacturing. Small buis is being and has been eaten u by box stores, ie, lowes target home depot. Now this virus is just gonna take more of that away.

@Superluminal

well said

the virus hadn’t spread like it had because the govt didn’t take action, it’s because people don’t like being told what to do!

population density and a nation who don’t like being told what to do by govts is not a good mix

this will never go away until there is a vaccine

I can’t believe Disney and universal are opening their doors again shortly - absolute bonkers
