The left rear tyre is more bald than the right rear, which looks surprisingly good in this picture. I have some new tyres for it but I'm awaiting parts to allow the front end to take hex wheels. That’s really nice - I keep seeing these as they are cheap - might be tempted JJ

Ferruz 11702 Posted May 28, 2020 Hard to say for me, there's three cars I have active all the time. Maybe, considering the extensive winter use, the Manta Ray is the one I run the most

Gruntfuggly 562 Posted May 28, 2020 @Ferruz - are they Kyosho wheels on there? They work great with the shell - a very unusual Manta Ray...

Yes, they are Kyosho Turbo Optima Mid Special wheels. There is indeed a lot of thinking and planning behind the looks of my Manta Ray, which started well before I even bought the kit. In the general consensus this buggy is seen as Tamiya's ugly ducking but, when looking beyond the poor box art color choices, I've always seen a lot of potential in those shapes, so the goal of my build was to give it a chance to show its true colors (no pun intended). It took me just under one year -and a few sets of wheels- to find the "right" ones but eventually did, I find these Kyosho rims are the best for me in terms of both looks and performance.

Wooders28 4723 Posted May 29, 2020 All mine are runners, so different cars, for different disciplines, but the DT03 is my favourate, mainly as it means I'm on holiday and at the beach?!?! 😁

Hobgoblin 1059 Posted May 29, 2020 So perhaps I felt obligated to have a little post dinner run with my blitzer, after celebrating the hot sun and the end of the week with a couple beers and perhaps a couple more.. All was well and I was having a lovely time thrashing about the newly cut grass on a warm evening Until I clipped the drivers side front badly on a chunk of concrete and snapped my printed wishbone! Ah well serves me right for never taking the low infill prototypes off. I have some much softer and more flexible material coming and with half hour of printing magic you'll never know until the next time. Definitely a runner

And it's a way to gear up without changing the pinion. With a 13.5T brushless setup and the stock 17t pinion, these wheels put it right in the sweet spot of torque and speed to boot.
