Jay77 9 Posted June 3, 2020 Nope, I’ve disconnected it all and the battery is on charge. If I can’t crack it before the weekend, I’m dumping this in the skip and getting a nitro car. Because they’re not hard to maintain. ;-) Jay

Let me know if I can step in - trying to follow two peoples' suggestions is probably counter-productive for the OP.

This looks to be setup right except the colours for ch1 on the cable are the wrong way round. I’m gonna guess that this light kit has the wires for the servo on ch1glued in the socket the wrong way hence the servo not responding. Black and dark brown are the matching pair on all of my radio gear. I see yellow and black as the pair on the edge of that connector. What are your thoughts @Problemchild or @TurnipJF? it'd be easy enough to jus swap the pins in the servo socket and it should work(I’d put a tag the cable to remind me I did it though!!) Problemchild 2149 Posted June 3, 2020 No can do - sorry maybe @TurnipJF could work 1-2-1 with you
Problemchild 2149 Posted June 3, 2020 @ad456 agree there must be some connectors back to front this is why I suggested checking the car works with the servo and ESC directly in the Rx then I’d take those out and connect the light kit direct and that set up @Jay77 said it did work before JJ
TurnipJF 9192 Posted June 3, 2020 I think 1-2-1 via video is the only way we'll get this sorted unless one of us can go and visit Guildford...

Good call - with QC being somewhat dubious at times, I think going over every connection would be wise. Just because it can only go in one way doesn't mean it has been configured to go in that way correctly at the factory.

TurnipJF 9192 Posted June 3, 2020 Earlier in testing, we found the receiver completely unresponsive. This would suggest that either the receiver is malfunctioning, or it is not getting power from the ESC's built-in BEC. @ad456 pointed out the crossed wires here: It appears to show the signal connected to negative and negative connected to signal on Channel 1. Either the receiver or ESC could potentially have suffered damage caused by the swapped connections as shown above. Unfortunately we didn't have any means of testing which component was at fault, but I have recommended a 4XAA battery holder which will allow us to power the receiver independently of the ESC. This should give us a better idea of where the fault lies. One way or another, I am confident we'll get this sorted!
