Unscrewing Wheelnuts

Recommended Posts

Hello,

the (original selflocking) Wheelnut of my Super Clodbuszer are coming of somties while driving....

Did i do something wrong while building it?

Is this Common?

Is there any Trick? I Put some Woodglue on the tread to lock it a littlebit.

The locking portions of nyloc wheel nuts wear out after a few cycles of being put on and taken off. It might just be time for some new ones?

Are you sure the clod wheels are engaging properly with the mounts on the shaft

and when you do up the nuts, is the shaft up into the coloured section.

ive got nylon nuts that are years old and been on and off lots but very few fall off

and the clod isn’t spinning those wheels up fast.

just double check the wheels are mounted and the nuts are locked

The Weels are locked into the wheelhub and the Nuts are turned tight.

The Clodbuster is the only model in my Collection that shows that Problem, so ithougt that its maybe a "Buildingfailiure" that i made. Maybe the thread of the schaft is "spinning" in the wrong direction or something like that. (Things that usually would be "self fastening" are "self loosening" if anything isn`put together the wright way)

When i drive that little thing around i sometimes hear that destinctive sound wenn the clod specific Weehlhub is getting loose and rotate against the inside of the Rim. So i have to get my tool out and screw everything back togheter.

Last time i drove it around i choose to use woodglue on the inside of the Nut to secure it better....

I have experienced issues with both serrated nuts and nyloc nuts becoming undone.

Serrated nyloc nuts solved the problem. B)

Personally, I wouldn't use serrated nuts on any rare/expensive wheels though...

I had the same thing on my blitzer, replace the unlocks and you should be ok. As mentioned above, make sure the start of the axle threads are just visible once the nut is in place.

I always use tread lock on them if I used them more the once, never had a loose wheel again.
