Wild one / FAV shock tower brace

Recommended Posts

So I was looking at some wild one pics and noticed that some had a brace between the 2 metal shock towers.

so did some looking around

found this at RC mart...

https://www.rcmart.com/gmade-junfac-aluminum-shock-brace-silver-for-tamiya-fav-wild-one-j200211-00074928

did some research and JunFac seem to make a lot of decent stuff and are stocked at all the big model stockists so ordered a few.

move on 2 weeks and they arrive

whaaaaaaat - **** it I’ve ordered a FAV set and the wild one is different.

so I recheck the add - nope it says it’s for wild one and FAV and i look around again and yeah both vehicles are the same.

then it dawns on me.... I’ve fitted the shock towers on the wrong sides! I’m so dim!

so take off the body and the first thing I see is the massive left and right marked on the towers. I’ve done it correctly!!

so I check the instructions again

yup that’s what I’ve done

yup that’s what I’ve done

so I drop RC mart an email and JunFac

both got back to me quickly (can’t fault that)

RC mart asked me to measure so I did

It defo doesn’t fit :)

and then the bit that surprised me and why I’m writing this post is I got info of how to fit from JunFac......

1dxThOm.jpg

are they kidding?

im not even sure the body will fit on with the shock towers flipped and why add strength between the towers then use a flimsy brass bushing the wrong way round etc etc etc

why did they not just make the brace the correct length??

am I missing something here??

Nope, you've been had.

That's really poor.

They emailed me and have categorically told me that is how it’s been designed!!

lets hope RCMart give me a refund as it’s not really fit for purpose

So let’s not make it the correct length to fit to the model, let’s make it shorter and then hope the buyer can modify his chassis and body work for it to fit - haha

Isn't that a brace that goes between the rear shock mounts?

I think that's why they says it fits the FAV and the WO.

It says in the details that it “increases shock tower stiffness”

and this pic....

...is direct from JunFac as the designer / manufacturer as how to fit

in my eyes they have designed it based on am incorrectly built wild one

If you find the right parts for a front and rear brace please share the links as I would like these parts for my Wild One as well.

From an email directly from JunFac (the manufacturer) when I contacted them

I’ll have to find some taps

Plenty of those at B & Q as well 😂

This is getting interesting with RC Mart too who seem to state the manufacturer’s solution means it is fit for purpose.

then its misrepresented in my eyes. It says it fits a wild one and a FAV - it does not. It fits a modified model - badly

thoughts?

I think you're correct, but I also think you stand little chance of gaining anything. If you still have the packaging, your best hope is to return it and ask RCMart for a refund.

Then all you can do is leave a product review.

For some reason I'm becoming a fan of the red/orange combination. Nice buggy there.

Thanks. Unfortunately I sold this not long after I took that photo. It's the only car I've ever regretted selling...☹

To be honest, I cannot imagine that brace doing much. The front of a wild one/FAV doesn't have much weight, so the dampers dont do a lot, and they would be hard pressed to move those alloy mounts anyway. Bit like the lunchbox strut braces people make. More for eye sore/candy.

The alloys mounts bend in a roll over. Happened to me several times when I used to race the Wild One on a high grip astro turf track. The brace, although looks horrible actually works. 👍
