NEED help ID'ing an old Kyosho

Recommended Posts

Guys, I need your help. I was given a older Kyosho Buggy, I can't figure out WHICH one it is!!

Looks good, might even perform well, if I can know what I'm getting parts for.

Any help would be appreciated! ;)

I remember that the sideways was based on the Ultima.  My cousin had a sideways, and I never understood why he didn't buy an Ultima instead.

Your buggy doesn't look like a sideways/Ultima. Are you sure it's a kyosho?

Looks a lot like the old Custom Works cars from the 80's & 90's.  Perhaps an Outlaw or Intimidator.

That's just it... I REALLY DON'T know!  I've never owned a Kyosho Buggy before. Only because I was exclusively a Tamiya NUT in the 80's and 90's.

In the 80's and 90's, I bashed Tamiyas, and Raced RC10s and OFNA 1/8th Scale Nitro Buggies...

Never owned any Sprint cars.

It LOOKS like it's got the Sideways Sprint Body...

The Chassis RESEMBLES an Ultima, but Carbon Fiber upper and lower plates. And a Gearbox like I've NEVER seen before!

Sideways Sprint had the alloy chassis and wider rear wheels and so forth

see TC member Dante 77's awesome Sprint :-

THAT'S a thought! It's got a funky 2 Gear Transmission like I've never seen before...

I now have more questions than answers!!! I really appreciate all of your input here!! ;)  I've been in the Hobby since early 1984... I thought I could figure it out.

Thanks all of you for your help!! At least I now know what it ISN'T.
