No Frog pre-order at Tower Hobbies

Tower has a listing for the following, the Top Force, Thundershot, and Manta Ray. But nothing for the Frog...I wonder why?

Tower Hobbies doesn't even sell the Desert Gator. I wonder if they even know about it? I am sure that The Frog will pop up soon!

Well I called and the rep that I spoke to has no idea if or when Tower Hobbies will sell the Frog.

I am lucky then, it seems.. My LHS on behalf of the Danish Tamiya-distributor called me up a few weeks ago, and asked if i was interested in any of the re-re kits, and so i ordered a Frog right away, not wanting any of the other cars that will be available.. I should get the Frog in early January... Exciting...

Hows this for customer-service, eh?

Hope you get your hands on one also.

No, not at all, but lots of people in the "RC-scene" are familiar with my, errrmm.... Addiction to the older cars, so i quite often gets offers, and also, i have 3 hobby-dealers as pretty good friends, and especially one of them keeps me in mind when stuff shows up, and he had the Danish Importer visiting, so they thought of calling me up to ask.. :9

Always useful to be friends with local hobby shops, it usually brings good results. Being well known in both my local shops if someone is trying to sell old cars they send them to me.It also means I get good deals non new stuff as well.

use the Tower Hobbies search box to find them. Just type in what you are looking for. For example: "Top Force" or "Manta Ray". That should take you straight to the pre-order links. Hope that helped []

I know what ya mean. I've been looking forward to the Frog and Top Force re-releases for about 5 months already. I love that Tamiya has given us the chance to own some of these great classics at affordable prices once again. I'm so excited I put in the pre-order for 5 Top Force kits and will put in an order for 6 Frog kits as soon as Tower starts taking them. Only 2 more months to go!!! []

I'm sure that Tamiya has done their homework in regards to the Re-re's. But I think that Tamiya might be in for some really big sales numbers for this round of re-re's, and the Frog should lead the pack as far as sales.

I have to disagree here. For the C Cars they released all of them too close together and the Jaguar has bombed, at least in Japan.

Having the jaguar body available for 3 years running at races/events and then rereleasing it so close to the Ferrari and C11 meant few takers. The Mazda 787B launch appears to have been delayed because the others are slow movers (it should have been out 5 weeks ago).

Also rereleasing the Manta Ray and Top Force less than a month apart means most people who can afford or only want one will wait for the Top Force.

The thundershot has never been a highly sought after kit, and to the casual buyer looks dated.

Im sure the Frog and Top Force will sell heaps, the thundershot and manta ray, we will see.

I think even though the Frog is old news compared today's technology, it will still sell in great numbers because of it's legendary past and affordable price.

The Top-Force will do great too, because of it's past and the fact that it can easily hold it's own against today's high competition cars.

Tower does this all the time where they get a description wrong. Plus, the price appears a little too high. They will credit your account if the price drops should you order it now.
